Today I was flying in the basin in WoTLK and I look down to see a lowly ally prot warrior grinding his way through some mobs to reach a rich saronite node. I let him clear the mobs, landed, and stole his node. He simply watched in horror without attacking. After taking his node I immediately killed him for looking at me. Being an arcane mage I made very fast work of him with Slow, etc and he didn't even get an attack off. I then killed his 2 nearby combat-engaged allies, a hunter and priest. I flew away and never saw him again, continuing on my farming for ores.

I chain sapped tauren druid for solid 20 minutes (for those who like to exaggerate - a whole hour!) while he was trying to do some fishing! All the things he tried - poor soul - and all the laughter I had to bear - my poor stomach...
Pre Burning Crusade, many people will remember that little chasm of death on the way to Naxx from LHC. Along the road, you would pass through an area with steep walls on both sides, where you couldn't get off the road at all.
There was a 4 of 5 pack on aggressive NPCs that whose patrol path took them right through that part of the road. If you weren't watching out for it, you would get quickly destroyed by them if they were there. If your computer was a bit on the slower side, often they would be on you before you even knew they were there. Some of the mobs had a charge too, so if they aggroed you, you were totally going to die.
One night, I was headed to Naxx. While going through the chasm of death, sure enough here they come! I turned around right before they saw me, and started to head back the other way. It was a close call.
I play a Tauren Druid, on a PVE server. This becomes important in a sec.
Right as I turned around, I see a Night Elf heading toward me, and toward the pack of insta-death NPCs. He is flagged...
I dismount, target him, and start casting... you guessed it... roots as he goes zooming by me on his epic mount.
The rest played out like you would expect. The roots hit him just about the time he saw the mobs coming. he stood there, on him mount, rooted, watching helplessly as the mobs got closer, and closer, and closer. I would imagine he had some choice words about then.
Sure enough, the mobs aggroed him before the roots broke. He got pounded in to the dirt.
