The only problem with Resilience is that it doesn't give you any avoidance stats like block, dodge, parry, and miss. You will take more hits, they just won't be crits, so you'd probably take a lot more damage than an equivalent amount of defense gear.
The answer to your question "in only resilience gear" is no, you shouldn't do it unless you know your healer and you've done this before. Using resilience to patch up your stats to get uncrittable because you're shy a few points in defense, perfectly fine IMO.

he's talking about normal instances while lvling up -.-
you could tank those in dps gear so i'm sure his pvp gear would be more then enough, though gathering some pieces from q rewards wouldn't hurt ofc
