Gotta agree with Yakra. Tauren really are tops for tanking. Also, the nice huge shoulders you get look awesome on Tauren.
Of course, it really is preference. If his looks bother you
that
much, then reroll now rather than wait.

Any race can tank as just as well as another. 5% hp buff is about 500-700hp extra at end game. War Stomp may help if you happen to lose aggro on multiple mobs. If maxiumum efficiency at tanking is your cup of tea, then yes tauren is the best choice. Undead warriors? I see more of them than orcs warrior for sure, at least on my server. Orcs, looks hellish cool, especially if you go with the white hair and beard. Taurens make every weapon looks 10 times bigger and they look like slow motion on a fast mount LOL. Like-wise, Undead looks like they are fast on mounts.
I roll orc and I don't regret anything (Maybe my hair style and skin color choice hehehe).

I'm not sure if Imp thunderclap has an increase threat multiplier, but the regular Thunderclap should do fine at your level. Stick in Protection if you're doing mainly tanking. I'd even argue that protection under level 60 is not really worth it. You can tank fine in Arms and Fury tree with a shield and one hander equipped.
