"Who wants to do the honors? I'm more suited to forcing people to talk rather than coercing them. I'd only get in the way of the situation," Azuka said, glancing over at the twins thinking they would be the obvious choice for the mission. She hoped Crassus would keep his mouth shut.

"The reasoning is twofold," Zhang said, lacing his fingers together and inspecting the two. "Firstly, it keeps the streets safe. Every once in awhile, someone will snap and discover their powers, leading to someone being killed. It's regrettable and avoidable."
"The second reason is a bit more selfish. We can always use new talent, and we like having those effected among our ranks. If you prove yourself to be competent in controlling your new... powers, you may find yourself with prospects for a well paying career."
A moment after he finished speaking, Finnegan poked his head into the room. "It's ready, Mr. Zhang," he said.

Slash watched her go, propping herself up slightly on the bench. When the girl was gone she slumped back on the bench, kicking her feet petulantly, still vexed that Crassus had thrown away her beer. She wondered if there were more in the fridge...She looked over to the limo but failed to muster the interest to walk the three feet there. Instead she rolled to a sitting position and rose noisily to ensure everyone knew the effort it took out of her, and wandered after Clover, snapping her fingers idly to a tune in her head.

Azuka followed behind Clover, making herself look threatening in the process. Her groggy demeanor, partly due to the alcohol she just consumed coupled with the fact she just woke up on a beach a few hours ago, did not make Azuka look the part she intended to play.

"...as you can see here TPD has put Takaneko's Main Street under lockdown until this case is solved. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Takaneko Police Department. For now, expect tomorrow's morning commute to be hectic unless the perpetrators of this attack are arrested and Main Street regulations are lifted. This is Ulrich Bergeron with Takaneko City News."
The man finished his speech and smiled at the camera. "Clear," said the cameraman, and Ulrich relaxed, furrowing his eyebrows in the process. "That's a wrap," another person in the crew said, beginning to pack the network's belongings up. Ulrich turned behind him, looking at the scene that had unfolded on Main Street, or rather the remnants of what happened. This wasn't the first time they had covered something as peculiar as this, but it was definitely the first story that had the largest impact.
Ulrich too began to pack up for the night.

"Good day to you as well," Ulrich said, standing up from his duties and looking at the newcomers. "Is there something I can help you with? We were just in the middle of packing up." He wiped his hands and forehead of sweat.

"Yeah. Hey. 'Sup," Slash said, waving at the newsman. "Hi. Name's Slash. Nice to meetcha. So it would be totally awesome if you could tell us what happened here and all of the relevent info you have. That would be super awesome of you and in return, we would be totally willing to be friends with you in the near future to the point of knowing your name, but not that of burying hooker bodies in the woods."
"Slash! Shut ya trap!" Crassus snapped, his golden grill gleaming in the sunlight.
Slash raised her hands. "Just saying, I don't know him well enough for that. Hooker burying is a sacred trust. Especially since I have a van. And I'm a woman so there's like...this whole levels of loyalty to my gender and stuff. Unless its a guy. I could get behind that."
"We're not buryin' no hookers!"
"Well I'm not keeping around a hooker corpse! Those things start to smell like...so fast. It's a courtesy thing, Crassus. Haven't you ever played Grand Theft Auto? There are rules! And one of them is you can't go swimming too far out."
"What tha bloody 'ell'r you babblin' 'bout?"

Their car bumped and jostled its way through the streets as it climbed the hill towards the lake. They slowed once they neared the oddly placid waters, cruising around the railings where tourists could gaze upon the lake.
Jonathon sat behind the wheel, somewhat hunched, for the vehicle was a tight fit for his immense frame. His head remained firmly pointed forward, but his eyes roamed the people all around. In the passenger seat, Tell held up a cell phone. "Okay. Ready?" Jackson nodded, and the young man quickly pushed in the numbers for Saito's phone. He pressed his face against the glass and watched to see who would pick theirs up.

Ulrich looked at the girl with wide eyes as he processed the information she had just poured out on him. Only then was he able to comprehend the question she had asked him.
“We really don’t know much other than what witnesses are reporting and each witness tells a completely different story. Some say that there was a fight that broke out between a magic show host and the audience, some say there was a chainsaw that passed through a girl. Whatever it is, it’s not necessarily abnormal. This story has been the biggest one yet, but there have been other strange occurrences throughout the city that are inexplicable to all those who witnessed it. All of it makes no sense,” Ulrich finished. He was upset that he could not provide them with the information he would have liked to. As a reporter, he had always wanted to know the
whole
story, not a mere summary.

”Maybe it would be best if he didn’t know…” Azuka said under her breath to the party around her.
“Didn’t know about what?” Ulrich asked, looking at Azuka quizzically. “Is there something more to this story that you could enlighten me with?”
“Uh, nothing at all, sir,” she said quickly, averting her eyes. “All we want to know is where these strange people who were a part of this are.”
“If TPD knew, Main Street wouldn’t be in lockdown. Not sure why you would want to deal with all of these alleged psychotics anyway.”

Slash folded her arms defensively before her and gave him an accusing stare. "What'r you a cop?"
"We were jus' wonderin' if there's nuffin ya can tell su more," Crassus said. He gently fanned himself with a wad of bills, grinning slyly his CASH grill. "Anyfin' at all."

“Unfortunately there is nothing really else to tell,” Ulrich said, looking at the group with a frown. He eyed his surroundings, looking for people listening in on their conversation. As far as he could tell, his crew was still packing up and the police were as dumbstruck as he was. But Ulrich did know something more than them, something he was certain he wasn’t supposed to know.
“Come with me,” Ulrich said quietly, motioning the group to follow him into a dark alley, something that probably seemed suspicious to anyone other than Ulrich.

“Hold on guys, I need to to take leave for a second. Continue getting packed up, if you will,” Ulrich said to the rest of his crew. He turned from the packing crew and lead the group of strangers down a dark alleyway tucked between two skyscrapers. Darkness overcame them, and he turned around, keeping his voice low.

tell you, not necessarily because I don’t want to, but because we’re in a media blackout,” Ulrich began, eyes darting around, watching for signs of other humans nearby. “Meaning even if we did know anything that would connect the dots, there would be severe repercussions if we printed a story about it. It’s not just TCN either, it’s all the local news networks. So, while the police are keeping things under wraps, even if a network did know anything, I doubt they would tell you much more than I have.”
