Stuck Cooking 420-450?

So I'm in the 420 cooking range and all the guides tell me to craft Darkbrew Lager. Unfortunately the guy that use to sell the mats no longer sells them anymore. I'm too low to do the SW cooking award recipes to gain any more cooking skill. Am I forced to go back and do northren recipes to get to the next step?

Why did they remove the Darkbre Lager mats anyways?

I found a path to 500 cooking finally. I bit the bullet and went back to craft with northern materials. Luckily the Northern Spices and Chilled Meat were selling really cheap in bulk on the AH. After that I made Hearty Seafood Soup to push me to 500+.

All other professions that use recipes require you to be 425 skill to learn the new recipes, at minimum.

If you are at 420 skill, you have two options:
~Farm enough mats for Northrend recipes to reach 425.
~ Do the cooking daily in SW 5 times.

Since the daily takes maybe 10 minutes (usually less) and you will need the cooking tokens for buying the recipes anyway, I suggest that the daily is the better method. Once you reach 425, you can learn the Blackened Surprise recipe. This is the only recipe that uses Toughened Flesh so it should be fairly easy to come by. And the recipe stays orange until 450.
