Think of the tobbacco industry.
Tobacco =/= Cocaine
Tobacco isn't considered a controlled substance or a narcotic. I highly agree that it is addictive and if done long enough it can kill you, but it doesn't alter your body functions like cocaine does. Besides, cigarettes are sold at every gas station, and what you propose is a highly controlled environment.
Have you seen what happens to someone who tries to quit smoking? It changes their bodily functions because they are addicted to the nicotine.
He didn't mean that it doesn't alter your body functions at all, it just doesn't at the same level cocaine does. Cocaine and Heroin are #$%^ing serious business. People are talking in this thread like they're trivial when they're not. You give some kid some crack, he doesn't know how bad it is, and you could seriously #$%^ up his life.

You're joking, right? Right... ?
Oh, Laihendi gets it. You're criticizing legalization of marijuana, and at some point in this thread you're going to try to tie that idea in with Obama, or liberals in general.
Oh, I just wanted to one more time point out the dangers of making assumptions about other people's views.

I like how MyTie is just up and leaving this discussion because everyone is "being redundant." Or that earlier he said there was a lack of "well thought out" arguments.
MyTie is leaving because his wife is about to be here and pick him up. They are gonna go movie shopping, then spend the evening holding eachother and eating popcorn.
But... you know.... believe whatever you want.

Can't you post on wowhead forms while she's holding you? And make her feed you popcorn so you can type?

This is what he really meant: "MyTie is getting picked up by his wife, where they are going to go shopping for cocaine and hold eachother while they snort lines together.
This is extremely inappropriate.

Should have locked the thread when it got out of control in the middle there, but fortunately you seem to have steered yourselves back into safe waters. Can't look away from this thread for a minute.
I think the fundamental disagreement can be summarized in three questions:
Does the government have the obligation, or even the right, to prevent its citizens from harming themselves?
Will the legalization of cocaine cause an increase in cocaine usage, which most (though not all) people agree would be a bad thing?
Will an increase in cocaine usage cause an increase in
other
crimes—which almost all people agree would be a bad thing?
I think that people can disagree on all three of the above points and not be fools. And that, I think, is the best way to end a debate.
