Savage Saronite vs Savage Gladiator set?

So I'm getting close to 80 (yeah, I took my time) and wanted to start to gear up for PvP. I leveled from 70-80 as prot this time around, and picked up mostly tanking gear. I'm prob gonna go with one of the titansteel 2 handers, but started to look for armor and came up with these 2 starter sets:

Savage Saronite Set http://www.wowhead.com/?search=savage+saronite

Question is how would the Saronite set compare to the gladiator set? I'm a miner so getting a full Saronite set should be easy. Would save a lot of BG runs if I got that and then moved on to the epic PvP gear instead. Does anyone PvP with a titansteel 2 hander with the Savage Saronite set, and how does it perform?

If we look at the stats, saronite is only a bit under savage but 1 big problem with saronite is that you dont have set bonuses.

My suggestion: craft full saronite and start farming honors for off-set ( trinket, rings and neck 1st ) and savage. Do a few arenas to be able to buy savage ( wich will reduces the cost of the pieces by a lot ).

Get full savage ( should be a matter of around 5 weeks if you have a rating above 1600 ) and then work to get deadly and hateful gear. If your arena team is really going high early, buy savage pieces than will be hard to replace with hateful ( like shoulders ).

Saronite is a good set to start pvp if you dont have high pve items, it will be replaced fast but with the low cost of saronite, it will be a wise investment.

It is:

-better stats
-sockets
-bonus sets ( 50res, intercept cd reduced ).

But saronite is so cheap, It's still a wise investement until you can get savage.
