Ret Judgment damage.

After watching alot of the vids posted i noticed poeple getting pretty high judgment crits . Now as a Ret pally as i have been reading you want to go for melee stats (atk pow , crit, str, stam agi) and bliz is going that why with the gear that is spec for Ret . but i main question is do you not need spell damage to increase the damage of a judgment? Also if they are changing the gear and you do need spell damage to increase the damage of your judgment isnt that going to hurt your over all dps?

SoC depends on spell damage to increase the damage, but ret paladins have damage multipliers like Vengeance and Avenger's wings
that's why it hits high
don't get spell damage on your gear, the benefit is almost nill

It's not just almost nill, it reduces your damage output. I'ld rather hit harder with my weap as ret, then have a stronger judgement that's on a cd. Shockadins are the only beneficiaries to spell damage.
