Does anyone who commits a mortal sin go to hell no questions asked? or is repenting always a way to escape Hell?
Hell is a state of
willful
separation from God.
What the standard of willfulness is, is up to God, because we are always willful to some degree when sinning.

I know this may seem over the top, but what if you were forced at gunpoint to steal something, or murder someone? Is that willfull?

Yes. Less so that if you did it of your own accord, but willful nonetheless.

I disagree, you are not willing to do the act, merely doing so to protect your own life.

You're willing to do the act
so as
to protect your life. It is a means to an end.

Watched a video about Islam today in my history class. Seems to me that Islam is basically just an "upgrade" over the older Judaism and Christianity. I don't see how someone could really believe that the "in the middle" religion is the correct one unless they just weren't exposed to the other religions in any detail - you believe that its acceptable to add to the Old Testament, but not acceptable to the amount that Muhammad's followers did? I mean, if I was going to be religious, Islam seems more current in terms of divine messages anyways. Also, Muslims helped invent calculus so bonus points go to them.
Have you read up on Islam any?

So hell is a state of mind of willingness to sin?

"Religion", I use this term very loosely here as it /technically/ has negative connotations to it, but for the sake of this discussion and general acceptability of it's meaning, is the most interesting and important thing in my life.
I have attended theology college for one year, have one more to go once I earn enough money in attempts to earn my associates in theology and work my way up from there.
I believe that morally, spiritually, geographically, historically and accurately the Bible is infallible, and am yet to receive a single argument that has lead me to reconsider. Unfortunately, people fall into this mindset and shut out any opinions that are contrary to theirs, be it from the "religious" or atheistic point of view. Religion is almost impossible to rationally discuss with people, they get way too hot headed. feeling the person they are debating with as idiotic, stupid, shallow minded etc. I find this comical, if a person were secure in their beliefs they wouldn't get so angry if people were to oppose theirs.
I do study Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Paganism whenever I get the chance. I will read doctrines, scriptures, arguments from all major world religion, I do see flaws in all of them except for Christianity though. The flaws I thought existed in the Christian world view, after careful analysis of what the entire Bible says, I've reconsidered and no longer find fault.

Wasn't trying to start a fight or any thing. No, I don't believe in the 3 wise men. I do believe in turning the other cheek in regards to if some body personally attacks you (this isn't really an application to war) but never said I was able to accurately live up the Bible's expectations. Jesus preached the beatitudes with the intent of proving humans can't live by the law (but I'm assuming you know the gospel message all ready).
Yes, I could start pointing out what I believe to be contradictions in these religions. If you want me to get into it I could, but I really don't want to start any thing nasty, you seem a bit hostile (but it's all ways hard to tell just based on text), was just putting in my two cents.

No longer finding fault = overlooking faults?
No longer finding fault =/= no fault?
To me, this means no faults. The things I once believed were faults (I was by no means raised in a Christian household, all studying and growth in faith has been on my own accord), I now see in a different light.
As mentioned earlier- God has killed 2,391,421 people in the bible (not including the flood or Sodom and Gomorrah). Satan has killed 10.
And in the source you later read
How many did God drown in the flood or burn to death in Sodom and Gomorrah?
This one stumped me for the longest time, but if you read Genesis 6:1 it reads in the NIV
"When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the Lord said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days -- and also afterward -- when the sons of God went to the daughets of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown."
Shortly after it talks about God's grievance with the pure wickedness that has consumed the earth, only finding favor in Noah, apparently the only righteous man on the whole planet. So not only do we have half angels half humans walking around, not a single person was righteous in the site of God. Personally, as I see God as a perfect judge just as much as a demonstration of perfect grace and mercy, I think God was completely in the right to purge the world and start over. Not to mention every single person was warned.
The counter argument to evolution vs. flood is a whole different story (that I don't really feel like getting into now, its 8:40 AM, I just got home from work, my brains tired... maybe later : P )
How many first-born Egyptians did he kill? There's just no way to count them all.
This is a bit puzzling too. Exodus 12:23:
"When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down."
Even so, people are so bent up on God destroying people, they completely disregard the fact the Bible says He made every one too. It's like the potter and the clay scripture. If God is real, who are we to tell a being that created the entire universe and imbued us with the moral code that we have that He's wrong?
Hope I'm not causing a ruckus, I know this particular subject is offensive to a lot of people for various reasons. I'll shut up now :-x
