"No." Miter sheathed the blade at his waist, brushing his robe over it again as if to hide it. "We will take her body with us, so those Crusaders at the tower may be inspired by her sacrifice." He gave the slumped corpse, fallen amid the red and surrounded by the white of snow. "She will serve still."

Balrick Brighthammer

"I AM the weapon!" Balrick roared. A statement somewhat undercut as a ghoul hurtled through the air and tore him from his saddle. Balrick hit the icy ground. A clawed finger hooked in his mouth and pulled. Another grabbed his arm and a mouth of jagged teeth bit into his leg.
There was pain there. So much pain. Rotted teeth tore at flesh paled with death, unfeeling but for agony.
Why should he suffer it?
His fist exploded through a ghoul's back. Green magic licked in tongues of blighted power, the ghoul's bones and flesh hissing as they liquefied and rotted. His other hand grabbed the one hooked in his mouth and tore its arm from the socket. With a roar Balrick surged to his feet. He grabbed a ghoul's face and frost crackled beneath his fingers to envelop the undead in an icy deathmask, which he then tore off. He stepped forward, dragging another ghoul that continued to gnaw on his ankle. His eyes blazed with blue light like twin torches as he struck and crushed, froze and rotted the teeming masses of undead around him with his bare hands, always fighting forward, eyes locked on the valkyr like some shining goal to reach. To crush. To slay.
"I'll kill you!" he roared and headbutted another ghoul in his way. He jammed his fingers in the eyesocket of another, his thumb hooking in its jaw and with a heave, he tore the head clean off. Cocking back his arm, he hurled the head at the hovering avatar of destruction. "I'll rip off your wings and bring you down to ground you feathered harlot!"

"Yes, sir", the raven priestess acknowledged. That was a far better fate for the brave crusader than the quick fix she had suggested...
Silently - save for the snow crunching beneath her feet - Linder went to fetch Sybil's horse, as her own had fallen. Large black crows were gathering in the trees in anticipation of a feast, their cries a mocking laughter. The horse waited patiently behind a drift, nostrils flaring from the scent of blood but otherwise remaining calm. It whinnied softly when she touched its muzzle and again when she grabbed the reins to lead it back.

Miter eyed the crows circling. As the raven priest neared he bent and lifted Sybil's body off the ground. Hoisting it, he slung it over the horse's back.

Evlyn Linder
Dragonblight
At that moment of watching the inquisitor, Evlyn was struck by the sheer strength the man possessed. If more crusaders were like him, she thought, the Scourge would surely never have spread from the Plaguelands, and she promised herself to become stronger. Not in body, perhaps, but in spirit and mind.
The tragedy had the effect of making formality seem less important and she was tired, so when she had made fast Sybil's corpse she voiced, quite bluntly, the question of whether they might be off directly and how far the scarlet outpost might still be.

"Some distance yet," Miter said. "We will move on. I have no desire to rest in this charnel house. If you need to sleep tie yourself to the saddle and give me the reins. I will ensure your horse does not stray from our road."

Linder did not reply. Sleep was not an issue and she felt it unnecessary to dwell further on the matter. And, though she did not bring it up, she thought it better to keep four eyes out than the inquisitor's two, sharp as they may be.
So they rode on in silence, she behind him and Sybil behind her.

Miter rode in silence, his pauldrons glowing on his shoulders like twin lamps. Night fell slowly in that land of greys and whites, creeping from shadows over the snow until all was washed in darkness. Where trees seemed to stalk them and sway to the cold wind blowing through.
It took time to cross that barren forest. Miter guided the horse near a cold river that ran with a rushing sound from their left. From a distance there could be seen a mountain and lights running up and down it, glowing windows of some far castle amid the cliffs, and below the humped shadowy shapes of buildings. They passed near the fences of farmlands and, like a void in the night sky, Naxxramas could be seen casting its shadow over empty fields and the hollow ruins of villages. Miter eyed it as they went, but did not hurry his horse, and watched it until it vanished in the darkness as they overtook it.
Once passed that Miter turned his horse inland again and down a narrow rocky defile. The land opened before them, and in the distance there could be seen the dark bulk of a tower, lamps burning from unfinished parapets, suspended on scaffolding and signs. Miter's shoulders cast a faint glow, and a banner came into view, flapping in the wind where it stood impaled by the road. A crimson C on a white field.
"We've arrived," Miter said. The horse, its head hanging before it, clopped onward on wearied hooves.

: Tharvulius Harrison
Location
: Borean Tundra
Tharvulius marveled at the sheer brutality of the death knight and sent an inch around ball of fire following closely after the skull. It probably wouldn't hurt the Valkyr but it would either distract or annoy it and the thought made the mage smile.
The smile disappeared quickly as a clawed hand reached around his ankle. Tharvulius reacted quickly severing the offending appendage and following up by cleaving it's skull in two. He would not fair so well if he was pulled from his pony.. As if on cue, the pony reared up and lashed out with it's fore hooves, caving in the skull of another ghoul.
Tharvulius, unprepared, toppled from it's back. He jumped to his feet, burying his blade in the chest of a ghoul as he swore at the pony. "Damnable fool, I have you for glue!" He tried to remove the blade only to find it lodged in the ghoul. Swearing again, Tharvulius put his foot on the corpse and yanked his blade free.

Balrick Brighthammer, Dominic Majunc
Location:
Borean Tundra
From the hill Dominic looked down on the battle taking place on the beach. He rung the reins of his horse, his sickly face even paler beneath his ill fitting helm. Then he saw the mad wizard go down, horse rearing and tossing him off its back. Dominic gulped thickly.
"Nope," he said as he watched the ghouls close in. He closed his eyes tight, raised a hand, and slapped his horse's flank. The old nag whinnied, rearing and plunging forward towards the mass of ghouls. Dominic buried his face in the animal's mane. "Nopenopenopenopenopenopenope!"
And then they were on the ice. His horse trampled one, the ghouls mainly occupied with the two embattled islands of foes. Racing through their rear ranks, Dominic plunged his horse towards the downed wizard and the woman with bright blue hair.

Evlyn looked up - ever since darkness had fallen she had kept her eyes mostly on the path rather than on their surroundings - and saw the banner, a familiar sight in the hostile landscape which filled her with a strange sense of pride.
She stretched in the saddle and yawned. "Good", she mumbled. "Good."

A whistle sounded somewhere in the dark. As if popping from the snow several scarlet armoured soldiers appeared. Wearing helms that swept back in the shapes of wings and thick red cloaks guarding against the biting wind they drew their blades and called a halt.
Miter did so, looking down on the soldiery. "We have come for shelter."
"We had no news of your coming," one of the men replied.
"And I had none of ghouls on the road. Yet here we are, minus two of our steeds and a companion." He touched his robe and drew it aside, revealing an amulet wrought in gold in the gothic shape of an I. "I am Inquisitor Miter Brighthammer. We are tired from our journey and require rest."
The guards hesitated. The light of their torches danced luridly across the red metal of Miter's amulet and his scarlet robes. "And who is she?" one asked with a nod at Evlyn.

"I don't know..."
"Do you doubt my word?" Miter asked, and there was iron in his tone. "Do you doubt my symbol?" Light spilled from his shoulder pads, illuminating the guards, every contour of their faces thrown into stark and startled relief. Miter threw open his cloak, the I sent swinging. "I am Miter Brighthammer! Inquisitor of the Scarlet Crusade! Your doubts are your weakness soldier. She is with me and I speak to her credit. Now you will show me to your commander. You will provide this woman with a bed. And you will do it now!"
His voice rang with command and the soldier blanched.
"Of course. Yes sir! This way!" Turning the man rushed away and towards the slumping tower. Letting his cloak fall again, Miter nudged his horse sending it trudging forward anew.
The tower, though unfinished, showed marks of its workmanship. The stones were strong and well mortared. Ice clung to the grooves and piles of snow gathered at its feet. Groups of tents were gathered not far along with the crouched shape of a longhouse not far. The Scarlet was swift to aid Miter down from his horse, the inquisitor landing and brushing him aside.
"Aid the priestess," he informed him. The man nodded and offered Evlyn a gloved hand.

Another gloved hand received the aid, and Linder came down from the horse's back without much difficulty. "Thank you", she said and slipped out of the guard's grip, walking around and taking a place beside and slightly behind the inquisitor.

The soldier gestured shakily to the longhouse. "The, er, bunks, sir. Are there. Highlord Daion is asleep, and-"
"She may continue, then," Miter said. "I too require rest. I will speak with her in the morning. Evlyn?" he said, looking at the priestess. "Go with him. I must prepare Sybil."

:
Ithalwen Azureweaver
Location
: Boeran tundra
Ithalwen observed with horror as ghouls rose from the fallen and the Val'kyr undid the killings of the undead.
The ghouls charged at her. Hurling their unnatural husks at her without any self preservation in their will less minds.
The high elf tried to keep her lessons in consideration as she striked the ghouls with arcane strikes. Taken unawares by a ghoul from behind. She cast a nova to hurl it back.
With a angry glare she teleported to safety and cast three missiles of arcane to the flying witch of the north. The spellblade wanted to cast another wave of arcane missiles at the Valk.
But a ghoul interrupted her and tried to strangle her. She managed to wrestle free and slam it's skull to the earth. With bruised neck she took heavy breathing.
