KKK group puts out "stop racism" message, in plastic baggies, into people's driveway, with Hersey kisses in the baggie. The message didn't contain anything threatening or negative. It just had a positive message about ending racism. The local police are trying to push littering charges, and the local residents are calling it "frightening". To quote the article:"As I got closer to it, I saw "Stop Racism" on it and I thought somebody's putting a message out. I'll take a look at it. I picked it up, opened it and it was a message from the KKK," said Zeable.
A message that she's never seen before. "It's poison. Toxic. Hurtful. Not in my neighborhood," said Zeable. Is this ironic?

of the message. I actually agree with a lot of it, but disagree with parts. I don't think welfare is just a problem with blacks and hispanics. In fact, I know it isn't. I don't believe in the culture of "white Christians". I don't think there is such a thing. I've been to many congregations, but don't think I've ever been to an all white congregation. I don't think that becoming a minority is something that necessarily needs to be stopped, and I question the fact that society has the wishes of non whites in mind as a bad thing. Other than that, I think I agree with the other points on the letter. The media and society are biased and racist. There aren't many organizations dedicated to enriching white culture, and that is something that we need. I don't buy the exclusiveness of white people, but I think that we, just like everyone, could use some enrichment.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to stop racism from black towards white, which isn't a bad thing of course, but you know, they ARE the KKK..

So, what about them being the KKK automatically makes them wrong? If the KKK is doing something good, should we be against them because they are the KKK? Just because they have a history of racism? So does the US Supreme Court. Things change.

Stalin made some plans for food production in Russia in the 20's, but I still don't consider him a homeboy.
I also think the obvious hypocrisy in "Stop racism" makes them a little.. I dunno.
I mean, nobody can be 100% pure evil. I'm sure they want the best for their children, their beliefs, whatever. But the things they want to do to achieve their goal, is what disgusts me.
And do you have a link? I'm curious as to what they mean by stopping racism.

No. He is dead, just like all those guys who did the horrible things under the KKK long before we were born.I also think the obvious hypocrisy in "Stop racism" makes them a little.. I dunno.

Let me remind you that a couple of weeks ago, you were disgusted with Egypt for electing members of an organization that is known for terrorist activities to their government. I would guess that they were elected based on a campaign platform that revolved around protecting and helping their people, because when people are desperate that's what they're looking for. What is so wrong with taking a candidate's campaign platform for what it is, and base your voting decisions on that, rather than looking at the history of the organization? What about being the Muslim Brotherhood automatically makes them wrong?
KKK
They have reported incidents as recently as 1981 of Klan sponsored killings, so it's not like their violence is ancient history.

How would you do it?
I was speaking about whites in the US culture, which is the setting of the KKK. Specifically, I think we need to focus on our food some more, for one. Traditional European foods are delicious, but we have reduced ourselves to some pretty cheap knock offs. I could do it by sharing some recipes,
like this one
. mmmmmmm

Their current actions. The KKK, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the US Supreme Court all have racist and terrible pasts. I can think of only one of those three that has continued its past actions, but then again, I don't keep up with the current KKK on goings.

See my earlier edit- as recently as 1981 we had convictions on Klan sponsored murder. And even with violence tapering off, their base message is still one of division and hate. Just because someone can write a sympathetic and reasonable sounding page in an attempt to portray them as less unreasonable, it doesn't mean that people need to stop considering all of the rest of their messages, and their fairly recent history of violence, when deciding if they want them to influence their children or be dropping letters off at their door.
There have been similar cases of towns charging groups who distribute fliers for littering, even with non-controversial topics. Flea markets, businesses like bars and clubs, stores handing out fliers for sales, etc. This is not an isolated case aimed solely at the KKK. They do it whenever they see flier distribution as having a negative impact on the community, usually because of the mess it creates, but not always.

How would changing their name change their agenda?
The democrats could change name to Fluffybunny-snugglebears, but that wouldn't make them communists.

Agreed, and I certainly won't be voting them into power of my government, which is why I believe the Egyptian comparison falls flat. The organization itself does condone some disgusting things, and recent, if what you said is correct. I certainly wouldn't want to be a part of it.No matter what they want to do KKK must change the name, because KKK has negative connotation, so people will perceive as evil racists no matter what....
Uhm... I don't think a name change is going to make everything better.
I'm not tying to defend the KKK. I'm just saying that the paper they put out has some good points, among some poor ones. It certainly wasn't threatening, though.

I like colcannon. I also like Polenta, Tabbouleh, refried beans, porridge, and dhal. Nobody is stopping me from eating any of those, or teaching others how to make them. They are all easy, and cheap. I really don't understand your point here. Please enlighten me.
I think as a culture, we've lost touch with our roots. You don't normally find people as versed as you are, I see. I think we should keep in touch with our history, and enrich our culture. You asked me how I feel that our culture needs to be enriched, and how I would do that. That's it. I'm not trying to enlighten you, just answer your question.

I'm not sure what they believe and what they don't. I certainly believe that white culture is a great thing, just like all the other cultures, and needs to be studied and preserved. I'm racist, in the sense that I see the differences in the races and recognize them and appreciate them. I'm all for equality and fairness. At the same time, I appreciate where I came from. Do the KKK believe what I believe? Doubtful, but I'm not sure what they do believe.

I am not entirely sure either, and they of course have subgroups and individuals with different beliefs. But I think I can be pretty sure that they aren't the kind of guys that fight for equality.
