What a Macro? (as defined by WoWWiki)
In the World of Warcraft, a macro is a method of combining several legal game actions to execute in a single button press or keystroke while in-game by predefined commands. Any other types of macros (external programs) are illegal.
At any time, you can have 18 macros that are available to all your characters on all servers within one account, and 18 other macros that are available to each specific character, for a total of 36 macros that each character has access to.
you'll also find a bunch of hunter specific macros
HERE and
HERE.
HERE's another site that helps explain WHY shot rotations are important and gives you a few examples of rotations for each spec.
some that i use are: the basic bread and butter 1:1 beast master auto/steady combo. There IS a new auto/steady macro but its a mana hog and seems to be a bit buggy for me. Im sure someone else can post that one up for ya.
#showtooltip Steady Shot
/castsequence reset=3 Steady Shot, !Auto Shot
/cast Kill Command
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
you can also throw your things like The Beast Within and trinkets into the macro above so that they proc every time that theyre up as well. simply add after the Kill Command line accordingly:
/cast Bestial Wrath
/cast TRINKET NAME
also another VERY helpful macro is:
/cast Distracting Shot
for trapping this is almost the best way to ensure you dont break your own traps. Your "focus" is a target you predetermine independant of your main target. to do this simply target the mob you intend to trap before the pull and type /focus (i have this macro'd to a hot key as well). You should see the targets icon glowing now, it is now your FOCUS. Now target your tanks target and set your trap. when the tank pulls you can now hit the Distracting Shot macro which will fire off at the target you previously set as your focus without ever having to switch off of your tanks target.
You can do alot of things using focus. Learn how to use it and what works best for you. You can use it to Misdirect your tanks in a raid without ever having to find them and target them taking your attention off the main target as well.
hope this helps =)
