This question has probably been asked/answered 1000 times already, so feel free to burn me with "read the forums/FAQ, newb!" However, I did a quick search of this forum and found nothing, so here's my issue; expert advice is needed. (Blademeld, Tomas, I'm looking in your direction...)
I leveled from 20 to 67 as prot. Tanked instances, solo quested, AoE farmed, and was happy. However, the PvP bug bit me, and bit hard. Further, I usually do more questing than instances, and a Retribution build is usually better for that, right?
With my current spec/gear, BGs and PvP are fun, but the tactics suggested for prot-pallys in PvP leave me with a lot of time to stand there and stare at the grass in AB. I'd like to respec to be better in the traditional aspects of PvP, but...I'd also like to be able to do a quick gear swap, (pick up the shield) and tank an instance, since I still enjoy it, and tanks are always hard to find. Once I hit 70, the first thing I want to do is equip my shiny new
Merciless Gladiators Aegis of Vengeful Awesomeness armor set, or whatever is available at the time. After that, back to a tanking spec, or more PvP...Who knows?

(Cliff's Notes: Need a build that can work for PvP superiority that doesn't suck for tanking. I'm already aware that this is most likely impossible, but if anyone has any creative suggestions, I'd like to hear them).

personally, I'd try something like
this, however, I cannot guarantee success.
the only issue you'd have with tanking with with would be the lack of pulling power, and for PvP, you wouldn't do as much as a pure retribution would
