I have a full set of PvP gear, enchanted and gemmed for feral DPS purposes. I use it on Atramedes, when the other tank picks the boss, and i do DPS. I commonly do 11k DPS with my PvP gear, tanking spec, and tanking glyphs, while banging all the gongs.
Honestly, on a fight where you have the ICC buff which adds 30% to your damage, i would be doing way over 13k DPS even in my bear gear. There is nothing impressive about that DK at all, he did the standard. The rest of the raid should play better.
I hope you are level 85 though?

This guy named Thazan, who is a Frost Dk in our guild, was doing 12k dps. Now,
you might be saying, oh well that is pretty good
, but Ive seen it done.
Trust me, no one here is saying that that's pretty good. 12k with full raid buffs is 9230 dps w/o the 30% ICC buff. 9.2k dps with 25 man raid buffs is pretty good?
Well, tell me now, have you seen it done by a guy in pvp gear? I was shocked to even see a full pvp geared dps in our guild raid! And the icing on the cake was he did 1k difference of dps from the full pve geared lock in our raid.
The lock sucks.

I'd do ~26,650 DPS in Cata content with a 30% buff, so grats on your DK being half as effective as a real player?

I was easily breaking 20k DPS at 80 in ICC, so again, 12k isn't even remotely impressive. People being beaten by him are just terrible at the game, sorry.

i love how people completley miss the point of this post, here that he only did 12k and instantly start whippin em out so to speak. the thing about this post wasnt that he did 12k and that was so great, its that he did almost as much as people in dps gear

Erm... Yeah, I just helped my friend's guild with Bane last night and because of these freakin' lockout glitches on ICC we had to do a full clear, I think on the bosses we solo tanked I did about 20-22k, AOE went up to 27, with some rare cases of 40k, and on H LK I pulled 11k tanking horrors and I wasn't even hitting anything for 2 phases of that fight.

That's a worthless point. I can out DPS a huge portion of people with full PvP gear too, because they are terrible players and I am not.
The only thing the OP's anecdote says is that everyone else he was raiding with is worthless.

PuG'ers out there. Most people were 15~18k and the best were 20~25k (curse you patch 4.0!).
