PvP as protection

Retribution, naturally, is a popular talent tree for PvP enthusiasts. Protection, generally, isn't. It is even talked about in mocking tones. On occasion, however, you'll see someone write something as cryptic as "holy > protection > retribution".
I like the idea of insane survivability in PvP. And I like the idea of being a team player. What I would like to see, is a discussion around talents, tactics and gear choices of the protection paladin.
So does anyone have any uplifting stories regarding prot specced paladins in PvP? I plan to play both battlegrounds and arenas when dingers I eighty.

That's a great thread, I've bookmarked it.
Had some tricks in there I didn't know, like that you could taunt a pet off of someone. How does that work, will the pet re-attack the target once the short taunt duration ticks off or does the player who owns the pet need to re-order the pet to attack the old target?
Also, have you any thoughts on how the new WotLK talents and changes have affected protection paladins in PvP?
