I would like to ask this, though: is Outland really unaffected by this invasion, or is it coincidence that the plague has not yet reached it on my server?

I was in Thrallmar, working on my new UI, and turned around.
50 zombies charging in. WOW
Also to the guy above with the long QQ post, you are up there with the saddest points against the event.
1) Rogue couldn't escape zombies
2) Army vets saying it was offensive that he had to fight player controlled things.
3) and you, saying they should listen to the whingers. Note to you: most people love it AND well....I think the reasons have been said enough. Temporary, one time, not hard to get away from, lore, and now FREAKIN QUESTS AND GEAR.

And before some smartass come with a "but it's not plausible, a real plague blah blah blah" i answer, TO HELL with reality. It's a game where you can stuff dozens of full armor plates and polearms in a backpack, where you run for hours without taking a single breath, where a gnome smaller than a 8 year old kid, can stand to a 100 feet tall demon, and i could go forever...
THANK YOU. Someone else who actually realizes WoW =/= reality.
Oh and btw, about my question earlier about outland...thanks for the answers, I guess I'm just lucky, and I'd also like to mention how horribly wrong I realized I was when I went into Shat...it is crawling with zombies, PCs and NPCs. Only the NPC zombies could attack, though, since it is a sanctuary...

I would like to ask this, though: is Outland really unaffected by this invasion, or is it coincidence that the plague has not yet reached it on my server?
Complete and utter coincidence. I reached outlands for the first time ever, after two years, mostly because I used to only play super casually, a few weeks at a time, when ever one of my friends IRL decided to play for a bit.
After 3 days in outlands, I entered honor hold, to find it besieged by about 30 undeads, with only the roof of the barracks as a safe place.
It was actually pretty "Zombie movie esque" as I watched the throngs of the undead swarm town from my rooftop. They almost got to me, then I remembered I was a mage and went to theramore, which as of the time of writing this, has yet to be hit on my server.
It's not a coincidence, at all. Outland, theoretically, can be hit just as hard as Azeroth. Actually, it can be hit much harder, since you can't kill - or even attack - zombie players in Shattrath. You also can't cleanse/cure a great deal of the NPCs.
The reason you don't see real zombie invasions in Outland is because people can fight back. Taking over Telaar or the Cenarion Outpost or even Hellfire Peninsula is not anything at all like overrunning Sentinel Hill or the Crossroads.
Largely because you have characters who are on par, almost below, or possibly above your level. They might be trying to level before the expansion. So, when they see a zombie who is trying to infect NPCs - and stop them from playing - they can deal with that in short order. Most zombies don't last long against Arena gear, I've noticed.
I imagine most zombies know this, as well. Which is one reason you keep seeing zombies in those low level zones, where no one can really fight back. That's what people are taking issue with. It's entirely too easy to just be openly disrespectful of the rights of other people to play the game.
"yeah, but what gives them the right to--"
Their purchase of the game and purchase of a subscription to it
.
Seriously, not everyone playing the game has level 70 characters, or even know that many people online. They might be trying to just play.
Saying "You can gear and level later" is not just disrespectful of their rights, it's openly callous. Especially if this "one time event" actually lasts a full three weeks.
I'm not going to be so bold as to say "Most people love this event" or "most people hate this event", because, really, there's no way to actually know that. But I will say that enough people are voicing concern with the way this is being executed to negate their complaints to "whining".
One person say something? Happens.
Five? Happens, but may as well at least here them out.
You get dozens of people in this thread alone? You get other threads with titles like "I hate this", "I can't level", "This makes me not want to play"? Here, and on the official Blizzard forums?
Maybe you should at least consider that something may be awry.
Because the alternative would be that there is a massive cabal of people - many of whom have never played the game at all - who have organized themselves into groups, with the united mission of solely trying to ruin the fun that
you
may be having. They have infiltrated the Blizzard forums, the Wowhead forums, and every server of the game, different countries, and log on at different hours so that you an always see one person talking about it...and they have pre-rehearsed scripts that have been authored to maximize the impact of their dissatisfaction. And the reason they're all doing this is just to stop
you
from having fun, because everything revolves around you.
...
...and they say
I'm
arrogant.

You actually have quite a good argument, I have to say. I agree with an earlier post saying that very low-level zones should be protected. I don't like the senseless slaughter of innocent lowbies, however I am glad that they are changing the game at least for a limited time. A little break from the mundane, yes? That's how I see it. But I do think it is wrong for high level players to take advantage of this. I do want them to continue the invasion event, however maybe make players below level 20 or so immune to the plague, and quest givers or other important NPCs in low areas unkillable by zombies. Like I said, I do see both sides of this argument, I'm just happy they finally changed the game to make it more like it's title...

Real plague argument flawed? No, don't think so. Blizzard planned it this way, and they planned it like a plague/invasion. I do notice there aren't many blue responses anymore...
No one is stopping me from having fun, in fact, nothing has changed much, apart from the random zombie incursion. Most players cleanse or totally ignore it all together.
People who like it pay.
People who don't like it pay.
There goes that argument. Maybe they could have made level 1-10 areas immune. Maybe they could have made it so you could flag yourself. But like I said, where would the chaos be?
Oh look a group of 50 zombies going by, don't worry, I'm not flagged. La dee da.
Oh look, I can't kill NPCs, now me and my 5 friends get insta-gibbed.
Think a little - this would not be a good event if you implemented the things people are suggesting. Then you would have crying about how crap it is.
There goes that argument. People. Whinge. About. Anything. That. Doesn't. Go. Their. Way.

The fact that sanctuaries are still sanctuaries for zombie players irritates me hugely. If I could kill the gits who wander around Shattrath building zombie armies, along with their armies, I'd be fine with it.

No offense intended but things are getting ridiculous now. At least on Thunderhorn-EU. Zombie corpes and skeletons litter the main streets and the fight against the Scourge (Alliance players zombies mostly) in IF is tenious to say the least.
I don't mind what Blizzard is trying to do, create the right atmosphere before WoTLK, but the callous behaviour of players themselves is mind-bogling.
I, a casual player, am forced to stay out of major cities lest I want to be attacked by Zombies of our own side. 'til now it was hard enough to put up with bored Horde players in SW and IF.
I for one hope this "madness' is ending soon, having this til the end of Hallow's eve or Light forbid till November 13th will take e fun for good or at least till this blows over.
In the mean time Light be with you all in this time of troubles.

See...the thing is, people have
already
paid. It'd be one thing if Blizzard said something like "Okay, we're going to do something that's going to completely change the scope of gameplay, as far as PVP goes. Now, if you're on a PVE server, everything is going to always be PVP. So, we'll give you a credit for this month."
Someone else had made a restaurant analogy before, and initially I said it fit. Upon further thought, it doesn't. This isn't going to a restaurant, ordering a steak, and getting the chicken. This is going to a fast food place, paying for a Whopper, and getting pancakes. And then being told that pancakes are a way of making things fun. And then being told that you can't get the money back for your Whopper.
This specific comment isn't directed towards you Homemaster, as you're neither the only nor the most vocal person who's doing it. You can't ever just say "bam, there goes your argument". You can't assume that you're right, and everyone else is wrong. You can bring your points to the table, for discussion, but don't just think you shut everyone out because you say "pwned", "case closed", or "end of discussion". Especially if it's not true.
Incidentally, this isn't chaos. I don't even think people would be complaining this much if it were chaos. A chaotic outbreak would have people randomly getting infected. For no rhyme or reason. And maybe one day Cleanse works, and the next hour, Arcane Intellect cures the plague. In that case, everyone would be in the same boat.
What this is is a system that almost uniformly turns every realm into a PVP realm. And not everyone wants that, all the time. And what is the argument against that? "They shouldn't have rolled on a PVP server?" All servers are PVP servers, now. And you want, what? You want them to just stop playing the game they paid for, after they've paid for it, because it's been changed to something they explicitly said they didn't want prior to paying?
The point is not "Man, we can't deal with this". The point is that they shouldn't
have
to deal with it. I wanted a Whopper. I was given the choice between a Whopper and pancakes. I said I wanted the Whopper. I paid for the Whopper. You said I'd get the Whopper. I sat down. When you called my order, I went up, and you gave me pancakes.
...
...you don't understand why that bothers people?
Chaos? Seriously?
There's this thing in chaos (been a while since I took the course, so bear with me) called a phase space. Think of it like a box. In this box, anything can happen, just so long as it stays in the box. It's like cigarette smoke on a windy day. Lots of thing effect how it curls. Wind, pressure, whatever. Just like lots of things can effect my Whopper. Too much ketchup, burnt burger...whatever. It's still a Whopper. But there's a line, man. Whoppers ain't
pancakes
, man.
It's a principle. If I'm on a PVE realm, then I should never be attacked by another player unless I've chosen to do so. That's one of the defintions of a PVE realm. This has nothing to do with whining.
You can't dismiss the merits of an argument just because you don't like the point the other person is trying to make.
