The Royal Apothecary Society in Undercity have been working on a plague like this since the game started and theres a video of Northrend from beta with them actually using it. My guess is the event will go on until Wotlk comes out. (a cut scene that is shown to you by the queen of the red dragon flight)

Make it un-cureable except by the Argent healers. I'm tired of the pallies curing the battlemasters. Also, pallies, if you're not on a RP server...
QUIT KILLING THE ZOMBIES!
.....You, uh, do realize the entire point of the event is for the non-zombies to, you know, try to stop their world from being completely razed by the undead Scourge, right?
If you're going to be a zombie, people are going to kill you. If you're going to infect others, people are going to cure them. Deal with it, just like we learn to deal with you zombifying us (or trying to) and infecting the battlemasters.
ETA: No, Cloak of Shadows doesn't remove the disease or prevent infection. I tried that on my rogue.

I thought that the apothecary was creating a plague to use against the scourge. the plague that we are dealing with at the moment is from the scourge not the apothecary

If you read carefully you'll notice that in the completion text for Herald of War, one of the quests following the Wrath Gate, Thrall says:
"Yes, the same Putress responsible for discovering the cure for the recent Scourge plague outbreak."

NekoSOM,
there are some problems here to your logic. According to the Code of Conduct corpse camping and camping quest NPCs is not tolerated by Blizzard. This is especially true on PvP realms. You can't raid a town without killing quest NPCs and other players. This is acceptable on PvP realms (As well as pve realms when players are flagged). The initial concept of raiding is acceptable to Blizzard. Even on a PvP realm where you can raid and kill other players at wil.
If the Horde attack Sentinel Hill I could mercilessly hunt them down and kill them until they left and not be in violation of the Code of Conduct. However, for the Horde to spend hours camping lowbies and quest givers they would be held in violation of the Code of Conduct.
I dare say I wouldn't be labeled as a hypocrite for killing waves of Horde invading Sentinel Hill or killing waves of alliance in Crossroads. If you're the aggressor you open yourself up to retaliation.
I've known of a few instances where GMs themselves punished corpse campers by corpse camping them.
There is a fundamental difference.
There is one incident the week of the mounts being reduced to level 30 where top alliance guilds on one particular server organized around the clock camping of the Horde mount vendors to assure that only alliance members would have access to mounts in the 30 and 40 bracket battlegrounds. As far as game mechanics were concerned this was more than possible. The result? Dozens of people were permanently banned by Blizzard. Even though you could in fact do it as far as the game was concerned, Blizzard found such conduct unacceptable.
They weren't banned for killing the mount npcs. They were banned for abusing their freedom in the game to grief others.
Also reiterating, its not necessary to kill someone 60 levels lower than you to stay alive. In fact you'll two hit them. The amount of health gained is nearly insignificant. If your health regeneration even bothers to proc as a zombie.
Killing a griefer and griefing are two, completely different things.

You are correct but Putress (leader of Royal Apothecary Society) and Varimathras are going to betray Lady Sylvanas in act 1 of Wotlk. There will actually be a battle where u can fight along side Thrall and Sylvanas (or King varian and Lady Proudmore) to get the city back. How will we be able to do this? Blizzard has a new thing called phasing so we will be able to go back and run the battle like an instance. Heres a video of that battle its a 5 part youtube serious. Watch in high quality.
Alliance version

Horde version

(SPOILER ALERT IN BETA FOOTAGE OF WOTLK)
If you really want to understand the storyline watch this video. Its horribly made and does nott use real game footage but it tells the story in 5 minutes.

The problem is Corpse Camping only is an issue on PvP realms in which such behavior is expected and even welcomed.
This problem is unprecedented on a PvE realm as you would normally unflag yourself and wait 5 minutes. End of problem. However, we're given no such option. The very reason we joined a PvE realm to begin with.
According to Blizzard Harassment policies...
Zone/Area Disruption
This category includes language and/or actions intended to disturb groups of players or areas of the world, such as:
* Disruption of player sponsored events or gatherings
* Excessive use of in-game sounds or visuals
* Excessively casting spells with noticeable effects in crowded areas
*
Impeding or blocking access to an NPC
, doodad, doorway, or any other area of the world that a player would normally be able to access
If a player is found to have disrupted an area of the world or a group of players, he/she may:
* Be given a warning
* Be temporarily suspended from the game if behavior continues
and
Ongoing Harassment Harassment takes many forms, and is not necessarily limited to the type of language used, but the intent. Repeatedly targeting a specific player with harassment, either physical or verbal, can lead to more severe action. The idea behind this is to prevent any one player from consistently being made uncomfortable in the lands of Azeroth.
Furthermore, when you cancel your subscription you are asked why. Click "Harassment" then "Corpse Camping" and Blizzard of course provides an apology and then explains that they have "special" servers called "PvE realms" to avoid such behavior as corpse camping.
I'm not really sure why common courtesy and respect of others is such a hard concept to grasp here. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Just because you can treat another human being a certain way, does not mean you should.
Honestly, if I were a new player on a trial and I was ganked by a level ? zombie as soon as I logged in and spent the next 20 minutes going through that I wouldn't even bother. Honestly, I'm not bothering anymore.
Its really the principle of it. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Self control is lacking in today's society and especially in the World of Warcraft community.
