Skosiris will have to confirm this, but I feel certain that the ability to post potentially large pictures is not something he envisioned for the forum, database comments, or anywhere else on the site. Wowhead strives to maintain a clean, clear, and concise interface, and in-line pictures (especially larges ones) introduce aesthetic issues that would detract from the site's overall vision.
I think the most you could hope for, outside of a link, is a special link that showed an in-line thumbnail of a small size that would link to the picture. However, for WoW screenshots, that's typically useless.

I have found with forums that I manage, if you let people post pictures then they just go crazy and it starts to make the site slow down
