Paladin Duo

A friend and I are going to be duoing as two Paladins. I will be Holy specced to heal, and he will be Ret specced. We will play only when the other is on, so we will constantly be the same level and have the benefit of the other's company. Would this change any suggestions as to what type of build we should have? Raiding is of no concern, we are playing to enjoy the game right now, not to get to level 70. When we get there we will look into that. Any suggestions? I have never been a holy Paladin before at all. Do we normally use a one-hander and a sword, or what? Obviously I want stamina and intellect, with spell crit and damage later on, and he wants strength and intellect, right? All help is appreciated.

Also, we will be entirely PvE for the most part. We'll try PvP, I'm sure, but I don't want our builds to be built around that at all.

i would think ret and ret or ret and prot are better combos for leveling simply due to the fact that either can have an offhealer and the other people will not feel so bored

there aren't that many encounters where you need healing

True, but I already have a higher level protection pally, and that would be boring for me. I'm pretty excited to get into the world of healing. It will make getting others in lower instances easier too.

If you are still a lowbie, i would consider scrapping the pali and get a druid, priest, or mage. Already having a high lvl prot pali, you are just gear and a respec away from holy. You may want to consider a feral druid. I love my feral alt, and it makes for a good change in gameplay vs my holy pali. But, that's just my opinion...

I have a feral druid as well. We both want to be paladins. I have stopped playing my higher level paladin and only want to play this one to play with this guy. Playing with a friend is much better than soloing. So, we're definitely going to stay Paladins. I'd just like to know if there is anything we could do differently to synergize better.

Holy paladin at the low levels, well until you hit the 50s is pretty much boredom. There isn't serious healing required in the instances, not to mention the mobs outside instances... Go double retri combo until the high levels, it's going to be both faster and more dynamic.

I concur. Both of you should Spec Ret for maximum lvling speed and enjoyment. To be honest, I find paladins as a whole boring to play in terms of clicking buttons, but they are quite exciting to play as. Dunno if that makes sense =P

In any case, Retribution offers the best damage output for level ratio as well as most interactivity. Anyways, if you really want to be holy, then be holy, but it's hell lvling specced as one.
