as someone who's played warlocks since classic i don't think molten core and decimation really represent the demo tree. molten core was originally a destro talent and decimation is also a very recent addition. also, as you mention, they are talents that involve abilities you don't have at that level and give you abilities you really can't use while levelling anyway.
demo is the pet spec. whatever the active ability it gives i'm sure blizz will try to make it a pet ability. for this reason demonic empowerment seems like a decent possibility to me. it means that as soon as you hit 10 you feel like the spec that improves their pets.
if FG is out (and i agree that it should be) then meta and DE are the best options. i can see reasons that it wouldn't be meta but i wouldn't be at all surprised if blizz did go for meta despite it being the current end of tree ability. still my money is on DE.

Do we know yet how often we are getting a new point then with these new builds? Once every two levels for example.
Also sumone mentioned that BoH sounds useless for Blood Princes fight and I have to dissagree. Slap it and your dots on the floating ball things that you have to keep of the ground and then ignore till the dots need a refresh. Easy.

they've suggested that we'd get a talent point roughly every other level (though 41 points over 75 levels doesn't quite work out cleanly) alternating with a new ability.
i think that would be a bad use of BoH.
the kinetic bombs are elevated by any damage done and the amount done does not matter. putting a pet on a kinetic bomb is the best way to deal with it but CoA (BoA) is the ideal way to deal with a second one since it ticks every two seconds and can be placed on as many targets as you want, unlike BoH.
in this fight BoH would only usefully be used on your main target so that any damage done to kinetic bombs (or dark nuclei if you're tanking) also goes to your main target. however, since damage done to adds on that fight is so low it would never be more than other options like BoD or BoA.
it
would
be an ideal fight for BoH except that the princes that aren't empowered also have zero HP. if they simply had a shared health pool mechanic then BoH would be incredible. the twins fight in ToC is about as perfect as a fight gets for BoH.

So heh, just has a wonderful idea, we could pop out of twilight on Halion, cast BoH in the real side, go back down to twilight and wail away? Eh? yeah? no?
Nice idea, not sure if he counts as two different targets tough and can't really test that either ;)

I thought I read only mastery was gonna scale. Now that I read the above, I R supah happeh!
No more asking for pally buffs on my FG when no warrior is in the raid (like last night)? Yes please! *squeals*

they've talked about pets scaling with all stats for quite a while now and actually mastery scaling is the recent discussion that is still on-going.
they have said that they intend for it to scale to pets but how they actually achieve that is still very much unanswered since, taking destro for example (and in the knowledge that masteries are likely to change somewhat before release), direct fire damage would be great for your imp but doesn't help if (for whatever crazy reason) you wanted to use your succubus. likewise the affliction mastery doesn't help your felhunter (probably a better example ^_^) and so on.
so mastery can not scale directly to pets. my guess is that it will just become a straight increase to damage scaling from our mastery percentage but, presumably that would take some specific tech to achieve.
in fact! the demo mastery is currently "pet scaling". getting mastery on gear
will
increase our pet's damage if you're demo. this is a more difficult problem than it might first appear.

I'm having a thought about Soul Link, and it's serious use in both PvE and PvP. In both cases, it aids the Warlock in staying alive far longer than s/he would have otherwise, and it is a talent that most/many builds utilize; I don't think there is a PvP build that doesn't utilize it.
So, I submit this question to you all to answer:
Do you or do you not believe that Soul Link will become a spell that ALL Warlocks will just simply be able to learn at some level around when PvP begins to become an optional part of the game for a character?
Forgive my ignorance, but this level would either be level 20 or level 30, I believe, and I cannot remember when you are first invited to start entering Warsong Gulch. It's been too long since I leveled a low level toon :-/
One major reason I think that all Warlocks should get the spell is, because if only one tree were to get the spell, then the other two would be at a severe disadvantage survivability-wise. And, doesn't that just seem wrong? Or, am I just missing something in the other trees that could possibly make up for it's loss?

Our thought at the moment is to put Soul Link in the second tier of talents where it is accessible to any PvP-focused warlock.
source
as a PvE warlock i'll take it but i don't feel that i need it (and won't give up anything else for it).
they're making sure it's available to all PvP specs but not at all levels. it is a very "demo" talent after all and i think it makes perfect sense that you have to invest some points in your demon to get an ability like this.

Didn't they say you won't be able to pick up any active abilities in secondary trees?
(even though SL is passive, you still need to activate it)

well... sort of.
You typically won't get active abilities from a second tree.

i think soul link does fall into grey area on the active/passive debate plus there will always be exceptions to rules.

Professions were quite balanced in Wrath. I'd expect to see similar bonuses from all the other professions as well.

The Cogwheels and Hydraulic Pumps aren't really bonuses, it's Blizzard making new kinds of sockets on gear and allowing Engineering to make the stuff you put in them. Like a JC and gems.
Unless you mean other professions getting more stuff to put on other people's gear as well?

we can assume, though, that they're aiming for parity between the professions so the question is what are these things?
if they're 'engineer only' items then the other specs are going to need something new to compete. the JC-only gems are +84 with the blue quality gems available to all being +50.
3 x 34 is +102 over other specs.
engineering will still have glove/back enchants so those on top of a (132 - 102 =)+30 increase is curious.
it will almost certainly change. perhaps these items are not engineering only and are being added to give engineering a consumable to sell. maybe they are engineer only and they will be nerfed. maybe they are engineer only but other specs are getting things we haven't seen yet.
etc.etc.
have we actually seen anything with one of these "cogwheel sockets" yet?
