Don't even get me started on Burning Embers, that stuff is crazy.
i was really surprised that the recent nerfs to destro's output didn't focus on burning embers when everything i'm hearing says that it's out of control.

indeed but if something goes live with an imbalance then we're just putting off the inevitable and inviting FotM players to the warlock class.

Yes, but 4000 DPS on one PASSIVE talent is still ridiculous... and that is 4k DPS in level 82-83 quest greens.

Ah so its not so much that the talent is op its that it is broken/glitched.

Also whats the imps firebolt damage doing in cata?

well, from what i gather it's not even really a problem that the cap is too high but that a BE DoT created by critting a soul fire is then refreshed constantly by your imp from then on.

To me if it was working like it should it would be destro equivalent of a afflic locks corruption. Now all destro need for pvp is some kind of dispel protection. In live atm a healer can destroy a destro lock by simply dispeling his immo since you either need it to use some moves and other moves do crap damage without it. (

I think he's refering to being able to keep BE rolling is like corruption for afflic.

How much more DPS are we expecting to do in cata? That sounds a bit ridiculous, but people are already doing 10k+ right now (excluding ICC buff) if not higher than that...If the exponential growth of DPS continues for the next expansion we'll be doing like 30k+ ^_^
How do you think Burning Embers will be overhauled though or will it just be a formula reduction.

I think they will fix it so it does 30% OVER 7 seconds instead of its current, obviously broken, formula. The idea behind it is good, it will still be worth picking up (probably, just guessing), it was just implemented poorly.

if that's the case then he's misunderstanding things.
firstly because this is a simple portion of direct damage done over time talent and secondly because "rolling", in the sense that we know it on live for corruption, is going away.

Well, everlasting affliction is still gonna be there. And pandemic will do the same thing for UA and BoA during "drain soul phase". You just won't be able to pop all cds and keep a super powerful corruption rolling throughout the fight anymore.

exactly, rolling is gone. it's just automatic refreshing.
it was always a broken mechanic that i think they probably just lived with because they had already started a complete overhaul of the system for cataclysm.
edit to add some thoughts on soul swap (and glyph):
soul swap works on "damage over time effects"
that means corruption, BoA and UA.
it takes 3 GCDs to cast these DoTs and it takes 2 GCDs to soul swap them on to a new target.
it sounds awesome but isn't really?
it's almost certainly not useful for proper AoE but a small saving on 2 or 3 mob pulls and, obviously, target switching.
