You'll need 2 things to do PvP: gear and "skills". Let's talk about the easiet one to get first.
1.GearIf you do a lot of dungeons during your leveling, you should be honored with Thrallmar, Cenarion Expedition, Keepers of time, Sha'tar and Lower City. By this set from their quartermaster

Then, get an epic 2h. If you are a blacksmith, craft a Lionheart/Moon cleaver/Thunder. Or, get the s1 sword or mace.
Finnaly, get your medallion:

P.S: When farming BG, get your Vindicator gear 1st. You'll replaced s1 gear faster than you think.
SkillsThere's no easy way to know how to properly PvP. The best way is to do some PvP at each bracket ( 29,39,49, etc... skip the 19 ). That way, you'll gradually discover your skills, your opponent's skills and how to counter them. Then watch videos ( duel videos are perfect ) and do duels outside of Ironforge/Orgrimmar. Your opponent will probably outgear you but when you'll lose, dont be afraid to ask why you losed.
Your first arena matches will probably be a disaster because you also need to know to play with your partner, you'll probably be outgeared often and you need to learn how to kill classic set-ups ( like warlock-druid ) but don't give up. After each match, ask yourself: "Why did I losed/win ?" and try to not repeat your mistakes. And don't forget, Arena points are still coming every week, even if you lose.
