You're right Elhonna, there are some 8 years who can truly willingly consent to sexual intercourse with an adult, because obviously it varies from child to child, right?
Wow- I not 2 passages ago said that we could all agree on young children being too young, but the discussion was about where the exact cutoff was between the 16-18 mark. And you completely pretended that didn't happen, because you have absolutely no answer for the question I asked about teenagers. Instead you post a baiting, inflammatory question about an 8-year-old which has no relevance to anything I said.
How are you not embarrassed to even pretend to be this willfully dense in an attempt to salvage your argument?
EDIT: Removed content out of respect for the mods. But then the mod box disappeared...creepy....
NVM - it's back.(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##It's understandable to get frustrated sometimes in discussions but please always try to debate the arguments and not the person.

The discussion was about pedophilia being morally wrong, I assume we were talking about minors, as in kids who are obviously too young to consent. It is not subjective in that case.
Ok- then tell me the non-subjective age under which kids are too young to consent. What is the number? We can all agree on 8, and 10, and 12 being too young- which was why we're not debating THAT. But Doctor (I think it was) brought up that there were different opinions on what was a child. Those opinions tend to disagree somewhere around the 16-18 age, and THAT was what the rest of us were discussing. I didn't realize you were having a different conversation than the rest of us were.

I'm still waiting to hear what the objective age is, so we can continue the debate from a concrete number. Otherwise I'll be talking about teenagers and the various ages of consent in that range, and other people will think (or pretend to think) I mean pre-schoolers.

Ok- so what is the age of consent, Sold? In order for you to argue that there is an absolute, you have to define it. If there is a single age, with no debate about it, after which someone is no longer a child, then you should be able to give us a number.

Any random number? 12.
...Really? So you believe you should be able to have intercourse with 12-year-olds then? Then why are you arguing that Fenomas is wrong, when you agree that it's a reasonable age of consent?

Who gives a crap if someone, at some point, disagreed? Common sense and modern knowledge tell any sane person it's wrong. By this logic, I could say that I don't agree that 2+2=4, I think it equals 5. So now, by this logic, math is subjective, because someone disagrees on the mathematical equation of 2+2.
We aren't asking you for your opinion on what is moral, but on what a logical solution is to morality. If you say that morality is subjective, then just say it is all your opinion, and Elhonna will buy that. If you say that something IS wrong, then pray tell, explain how you arrived at that conclusion. Explain what age IS right, and what age IS wrong, and how you arrived at that conclusion.Any random number? 12.
My daughter is 13. Anyone touches her, and I'd... well... I'd explain what I would do to them, but then Master of Disguise would come in here and threaten to ban me again.

I find it funny that someone who has such a strong opinion on Pedophilia considers the age of consent so low. That would qualify you as a pedophile, you know, in every state in the US.
EDIT:
And this is why I should read before posting.
It's not argumentative if I'm not the one who said it.
But you gave an age range, and not a specific agw. Meaning that you thing that there is not a hard answer. Which is what doctor said when he said that it depends on how you define children. Because in some people's minds, 17 is a child and if you have intercourse with a 17-year-old you are a pedophile. Other people think it's closer to 16. What is considered a pedophile varies from state to state, based on the age of consent. In some states what is considered child molestation would be a legal relationship in another. All around that 16-18 agre bracket.
That was the point people were making. That the reason that even in such a horrible topic as pedophilia, there are differences of opinion on where the cutoff should be precisely, and as such disagreements on who would qualify. Not about young children, but about teenagers who are right on the border between childhood and adulthood.

Tho, I'm pretty sure you guys should've known that I misread, and not assume that's what I meant, based on my previous posts. No one assumed anything. You said it. If you misread, that's understandable, but don't expect that we can read your mind.

I meant 12 is too *!@#ing young, read what I said. I misread your post and thought u said "what is too young to consent" obviously 12 is too young. So now you're just going to ignore that I misread and take it out of !@#$ing context for the lulz.
Oh my gosh. Is that frustrating? I wonder how it feels to have someone take my post out of context and make an outlandish statement with it. That never has happened to me in this thread.
On Topic- I asked for the age "after which someone is no longer a child." That is very specific wording, and when you answered 12, you were answering that question.

Whatever, the point is, anyone below 17 is definately too young to be consenting with an adult, that and an adult shouldn't want to have sex with anyone that young. It's not subjective that someone around 10-12 is too young, and I don't give two flying ^&*!s if someone thinks otherwise, they're too young, objectively. Common sense alone should tell someone that, and a grown adult should not be attracted to someone that young.
Then how come so many states in the US have an age of consent of 16?
http://www.webistry.net/jan/consent.html
The vast majority of the country disagrees with you by one year. And in other states, the age of consent is 18. So, according to enough of the population for those laws to pass, in those areas, you'd still be considered a pedophile.

Age of consent is 16 in Canada as well.
