Small sampling pool but I have to agree. Constantly on a 3:1 ratio of what I receive from nodes. So much overstock of white in my bank waiting to be transmuted if only I could get more black

I'm kind of surprised the OP has hit as much Trillium as he has. After my first toon a DK Eng/Miner hit 90 I flew around all the zones to fill in my map. I saw 5 trillium nodes period and I was both actively looking for them and flying in all areas. This was at a time when the server was not busy. I haven't bothered to look for the ore since. I just send Ghost Iron to my transmuter.
In any case if the ratio of Black to White is that bad then somebody somewhere screwed up.

I seem to always get Black Trillium Ore myself. I've decided to farm rare spawns and Ghost Iron for my Trillium Bar fix.

I tend to get a lot more black, too. It's just RNG.

Yep. Transmute trillium bars from ghost iron bars and prospect the trillium ore.

I am almost starting to think that it has something to do with the character's class, faction or spec. I have mined 2 stacks of black trillium this week, but have not yet encountered white trillium.

I tend to just farm Ghost Ore and send it to my Alchemist to transmute, a hell of a lot easier and there is much more Ghost Ore.

After getting Revered with the Tillers you can start making Spirits of Harmony to trade for 5 Trillium Ore. Use that to even things out. By the time you get a 3rd toon to 90 it won't be a problem any more presuming you work each day on your Tiller's faction.

If you are a blacksmith your Spirits are probably more use if you keep them for crafting / recipes.
I know my engineer has a surplus of them but I use those for other things (Celestial Ink for DMF cards is far more valuable to me than 2.5 Trillium bars per 2 Spirits)
The best thing to do is to find a friendly Alchemist. (and the transmute does tend to proc quite a lot)
You sort of missed my point. Then again maybe I missed making it. Depending on your circumstances there are advantages to either trading for it or mining the ghost ore and transmuting it. The latter takes more time but if time is short then you may have no choice.
By the way I haven't leveled my BS to 90 yet and really had not looked at the premium recipes. You are right that they use a LOT of spirits and no sane BS would buy ore with them. But your other 90's are another matter.
In my case my 90's are 1) Engineer who has stopped using spirits after making his Eng Helm and 4 sets of Mist Goggles. 2) Inscriptionist who has stopped using spirits after making 2 BOA staves (and a few minor items) 3) Tailor has has no real use for spirits at all (drowning in Imperial Silk). ATM I mainly use spirits to trade for golden lotuses for transmuting gems for my JC's daily research and some judicious Trillium purchases when I don't feel like mining ore for transmuting. The point being that I don't have a big call for what spirits can buy so atm I probably have 40 to spare.
Outside of BS'ing the only other profession to use a lot of spirits directly in recipes is LW. So for six of the eight professions your spirits are going to get converted to something else. Unless you do almost no gathering you should be able to start having extra spirits lying around once you get your third toon Revered with the Tillers.
Just to change the subject I am curious about one thing on the DM cards. I stopped making them after LK because quite frankly gathering the ink required just too much time for me. What has requiring the staff of wisdom done to the market ?

I get way more white trillium, atm from a few mining trips, I have 28 or so white trillium ore, and 0 black trillium ore. Which leads me to conclude that Blizz is racist!
Racist!

I and my guildie who for some reason sends me her trillium...get a crapload of black. I however have a transmutation alchemist and our ghost iron prices get lower and lower. So I just mine my 1000 ghost iron ore, turn it into 500 bars and make 50+ trillium bars.
No I'm serious, when I mine I clear the zone out until it cries.
