I don;t normally fuss too much over PvP scuffles, but, tonight I finally met my match. I am a BM hunter, I am not epicced out, but I certainly hold my own in PvP and I don't usually have too much trouble. Due to my gear, generally try for the element of surpise, so I shadowmeld and lie in wait.
Well, I ambushed a shammy 5 times tonight, the last two times, there were 5 of us trying to take him down. Another hunter and I rotated stings, and I hit him with aimed shot on a really consistant basis, and no matter what we threw at him, he just would not die. It seemed he was immune to everything, he just continued healing himself, barely denting his mana, and taking us all down, one at a time.
I kept thinking to myself, what makes this dude different than all of the other shammies I have spanked, even when they outgeared me? Well, as I lie there, waiting for my PvP to disable, I noticed his buffs....he was resto!!!! Almost all these times I was fighting balance and enchancement shammies, and taking them down, knowing all of their tricks, then I come across this guy, all new tricks, earth shield, and not to mention, this player simply out played us all!
First time I ever gave someone credit in PvP.

No offense but it isn't really hard work to get to honored with the basic outland factions.

I know a resto Shammy that took on 4 70s in world pvp and won. For shammies, spec DEFINITELY matters, resto shammies are very hard to down sometimes, esp when they can summon their elementals.

We had a druid in full epics, and three other 70s in a mix of epic and blues attacking this guy. This was not a 1v1 with just me and the shammy. If the epic gear is enough of a difference to even be able to go from being killed easily on 1v1 to taking out 5 people without taking much of a hit to your mana, then I would say that the epic gear is too OPed and needs to go from PvP or get nerfed.

Haha, I love how the hunters this they can just "Oh just this and this" and kill a resto shaman.
Sorry no. The OP has it right.
One of my toons, t4/t5 Resto. No resilience. Wanna see uber? It's not the s3 MS warrior with 14K health. Nope its the 1 troll resto shaman holding off 6+ people and the reason he died is because he was laughing so hard he forgot to press buttons....
Do you really think we're just going to spam earth shield? No. I'll probably spam water shield if my mana is below 60%. Then watch your shot rotation restore my mana so fast you'll be like "OMG HAxxor!". Then when I'm at full, I'd probably swap to the now cheaper earthsheild.
Seriously, it's time/place/skill. Saying "Because your this spec hunter and this gear and these abilities, BLAMO!" is ignorant. I can hold my own as a resto shaman. Can I kill you? Probably not, not me anywho. Not unless I last long enough to make you run out of arrows. But I'm not going to drop over dead.

Here is the scenerio with resto almost every time. Send pet, Arcane shot (dispel buff), concussive shot, viper sting, aimed shot...even though I am draining their mana, AND I have a -50% healing debuff, they STILL heal for full health and manage to keep their mana almost full, even though I was draining the entire time. So, I then resort to trying to use intimidate, which stuns them mid cast, refresh aimed shot, arcane shot, then aimed shot spam, because by this time, I happen to be the one low on mana, then I finally run out of mana, can't use shots, resto is still at full health and 70% mana, then he comes up and kits be a couple times, dead.
Drain affects normally take mana/health from the target, and give it to the caster. Now, all it does is takes it from the target, but does not go to the caster, so, it does almost no good to even waste the mana to use.
So, to sum it up, epicced boomkin druid, BM hunter, MM hunter and another one, think it was a warrior with mixed epics, all got take down by the resto shammy and managed to walk away with full health and 60% or more of his mana in tact. You can talk about tactics all you want on paper, but it's funny that it never seems to work in game. In the end, he still had aimed shot debuff on him and viper sting, but it made no difference.

just letting you know, no your actually not draining any mana with viper sting. a shaman can either poisen cleanse himself actively or just drop a totem that will cleanse him every few seconds. whats happening is your shots are giving him mana back from water shield, and your poisens dont last more than a couple seconds
(side note to OP, its elemental shaman, lol you said balance)
Yeah, I always forget which is which.
So what you're basicly is saying the same thing, it's OPed if everything I throw at him is simply benefitting him or can be dispelled in an instant. My arcane shots should debuff his shields too, but i guess with no CD on those, it's pretty silly.
Reguardless, when the fight was over, I saw that the viper sting was still on him and so atleast one of the shots wasn't cleansed...btw, this is not a poison, so how would it be cleansed?
