Mages should get flying carpets IMO.
epic carpet quest involves a long quest line going from any mage trainer in a major city.. to ur friendly inkeeper in nagrand. she/he asks you to get some fire, air, water, and earth elemental pets using a item that turns a dead body into a mini-non-combat pet. when u have all 4 mini pets in ur bags. u combined them together using a click effect. clicking it again gives you a quest to talk to the guy in Heroic SP( he gives the SSC/tk attunement quest? ) when you talk to him, he asks u to defend him as vashi has found out where he has been hiding. 5 waves involving 3 elites each pull, but theres a catch, if u dont kill each pull within 30-45 seconds( i dont know how long it takes so im just guessing. ) the next pull comes. the pulls consist of 1 healer, 1 caster, and 1 melee. at the end of the 5 pulls, 1 last pull of 3 more mobs and a lady vashi image come to attack. after u defend him, he gives u the quest to get to a chest behind Prince( in Karazhan ) that has a special carpet. the quest return goes to the aldor/scryer leader. he/she gives a quest. you give the carpet to him/her, and he/she says to get a signet from gruul's belt. ( in the right eye of the skull ) you return to the aldor/scyer leader with 2500 gold to recieve your epic carpet and epic mount training. or 400g if u currently have your training.

I love teleporting everywhere. Like i'll tele to Shatt then relize i need to go to SW for some reason and it only takes 20 seconds to tele twice

Of course, a flying carpet feels more like a tailoring skill than a mage skill.
If a mage needs a flying skill, it should be with magic, and not some silly tools. Maybe something like
Arcane Flight
100 mana.
Allows the mage to levitate and fly at 100% of movement speed. Cannot be used in combat. Drains x mana when flying.
