Leveling as Elemental...just Lightning Bolt Spam?

Recently, i rolled a dwarf shaman, leveled to 16, and took a closer look at the Elemental talents. Half of them seem to benefit Lightning Bolt in one way or another. It just seems to me that leveling an Elemental shaman is mostly Lightning Bolt. The fact that you can cast another while the first is still casting adds a bit of weight to this. I don't think any other spell lets you do that.
This is the first shaman I've ever played, so I'm wondering...am I somewhat right, or will it "get better" after level 30 or so, like priest leveling was pre-Cataclysm?

You get Lava Burst at 34, so it's not too bad.

Priest leveling pre-Cata was not bad if you used a smite spec.
Anyways, back on topic... Yeah, it basically is LB spam with shocks and Lava Burst. But honestly a lot of casters are like that, they rely on one spell for most of their damage.

is the basis of Elemental Shaman with
being the AoE equivalent.
The reason, as far as I can tell, that there are so many talents to go along with it is to buff it for Elemental Shaman so they use it and keep it weak for the other specs so they don't use it so much.
Once you get
and
Lava Burst
working together to make sure the
Lava Burst
is a critical strike, the rotations get more interesting. Sticking in
with
active also makes your
Lava Burst
much more effective since the
gives you a +20% fire damage, making your
Lava Burst
that much better.
Once I got to 85, my rotations looked like this:
,
,
,
Lava Burst
, and then
until
Lava Burst
is off cooldown. However, getting 9
charges with the
talent takes priority (and you can only build charges by casting
) as it will make your
Earth Shock
do a very nice amount of damage instantly.
is our bread and butter. You will use it a lot because it does a lot. Things will get interesting, but use your
as time filler between your good abilities on cooldowns. As you level, you will add more things to your rotation as you get them, but that's how it works with every class. Leveling is learning how to play your class.

UE became viable some time in the last three weeks?
and imo fulmination cast (earth shock) should only be your priority IF your flame shock will last the cooldown, you dont want to lose a possible lava surge proc. lvB > fulm
my rotation has been fs>LvB>LB/CL with your happy lil fulm in there when you can.

As you get levels, Its Flame Shock > Lava Burst > Lightning bolt spam. Rather simply as ele. I personally prefer enhance for leveling myself.

Nope, still useless unless you're moving and don't want/don't have shock CD.

For leveling it's not even worth casting ES because you get hit all the time anyway so Fulmination usually doesn't stack to 9.
As others have said, FS -> LvB -> LB spam
Leveling as Elemental is pretty boring. I recommend Enhancement. Summoning wolves is just way too awesome to pass it up.

I actually prefer LB -> FS -> LvB -> LB spam, because as the first LB travels to the target you can FS them. In your rotation you have to sit there for the GCD and then start casting LvB.
Alternatively you can do LB -> Frost Shock -> LB spam.

Not really. If you get the Lightning Shield major glyph, the shield charges don't drop below 3 charges by being hit by attackers, so you get more charges quickly and can use ES at 9 stacks more.

While we're on this topic, can anyone recommend a good Elemental build? (Looking for mainly PvE, with a little PvP)

No idea if that is what you are looking for here. If you'd like to take something out I'd say the 2/2 Earth's Grasp.
This is a guess of a PvP/PvE I find it rather hard to combine the both cause there are so many different elements that are in play.
You forgot
, which is
mandatory
, with the largest M in Elemental Shaman history. Elemental Warding left me a bit wondering as well. It's useful - sure, but
hardly
as useful as Precision.

I until you beasty gear'd, I don't understand why I see shaman leading with FS. You should LBx2 then Flameshock into the priority system to make the most use of front loading the dmg while the mob is max range.
