The Prince yawned and cracked his neck, the sound having a slight electrical turn.

Hurrying to the grating, the wizard hurried to the grating, pursued by the authoritative voice declaring, "Nobody resist, and you will only be slightly beaten. Right! Nightsticks out!"

The thief fairly flung himself inside.

Uxelline followed immediately after. The shaft must have been a duct for some sort of ventilation, because there was a fairly strong draught through it. After a short straight piece it turned ninety degrees and then sloped invitingly downwards.
"Go!" the pale woman whispered, her voice perhaps giving the impression of excitement rather than fear of the coppers.

The Thief hesitated only long enough for this exchange to drift through the pipe.
"No no no. What are you doing? That's not how you beat a citizen! You have to snap with your wrist more. Such sloppy work is an insult to both you and the one you are disciplining. Oh for...Here, give me that..."
"Aieee!"
"Aha! There, that pitch? That means you're getting the full worth out of every blow."
"Ugh. It's true sir. I...ugh...I really felt those last ones. Oh, I believe I'll be peeing blood for weeks now."
"Good show, good show old sport. That's the ticket. But you leave their wrist intact. Otherwise how are they supposed to fill out the paperwork? Ah, tell me chappie, are you right of left handed?"
"Right, sir."
"There you are. Have at it then!"
"Righto sah!"
"Beautiful! Carry on then gents."
The thief promptly ran so fast is legs were in danger of overtaking the rest of him.

Luckily for the escaping pair, the duct was fairly small and so were they. The coppers, however, would certainly have had a difficult time fitting through the opening.
After the turn almost all of the yellowish unnatural Everdarkian daylight had disappeared, but another one, faint and distant, could be seen ahead.
"On and on!" the female urged again, now for the first time speaking in a soft copy rather than a whisper. "Like smoke and oakum!"

Though he winced at how painful what the cat-woman had just suggested sounded, the thief regardless hurried onwards as best he could, though his height and loose robes made every step an exercise in caution.

The distant light grew stronger, and they eventually made it out to the other side of the shaft and into a vast yard. Piles of twisted metal laid all over in disorganised rows, as if the one responsible for their order had tired of their job halfway through.
Uxelline skipped out and landed expertly on her feet, looking around warily to make sure they were in at least temporary safety.

Letting his head rock from side to side like a pendulum, hair crackling with charging electricity, the Prince growled low. "Mmm...I'm sick of these woods. I want out of here."

"I can. And I will!" The Prince cried. The winds began to pick up about them, swirling towards the Prince who had begun to crackle somewhat. "Honestly? I don't know why I even walked this far? I can fly out of here easily enough. Why go here? Why? Why why why why, why. I'd like to know. Hah!" he suddenly guffawed as blue arc of electricity began to spark across the ground, he being their focal point and resembling erratic roots of a tree. "Who cares! Time to leave!" The Prince threw an arm up. A rush of air swirled from all over the clearing and into the Prince's hand. The clearing was dreadfully quiet, a silence which was broken with a boom and spear of lightning rocketing upwards. Branches and leaves exploded at the sheer force of the blow, anything struck vaporizing so intense was the heat. That first blast was only the first, two more following in swift succession, each as strong as the first.
It was over in an instant, all that remained of the blast being a tunnel rent right through the interlocking boughs above them, a gap through which could be seen dark, angry clouds.

"I'll always remember you, Prince of Wind." said Francis forlornly, gazing up at where he had once stood, "You proving yourself no better than Vilenteri! But at-least he won't abandon us all while we're lost! I thought you had honor!"

"Eh?" the Prince said, turning his blue eyes, often clear but now seeming to spark with inner light. "You want to come? Hmm, well," he shrugged, "yeah. Okay, come. In fact, that's great! Yeah, it'll be fun!" Come one!" he cried, gesturing eagerly for anyone who wished to join him to.
