Fascism
were the land of the Free we dont tell ppl how to live if i want to smoke a pack a day that my decision I am the only one who will be hurt by it.
and dont tell me all about 2nd hand smoke its not any worse than standing on a street corner breathing in exhust
Because breathing in exhaust isn't that bad...it can only kill you in large ammounts. Second hand smoke has also been proven only to be harmful in large amounts there is no opinion to be made it is fact.
oh ya...

Triple G, the point is: Marijuana is as bad as cigarettes or alcohol, but it's ilegal, and the other two aren't. That leads you to question why it's ilegal. Also,
Legalizing Marijuana is the way to go. Think with me.
It'd basically shut down the traffic.
It bring income to the government.
Think of all police work that would be spared for more important things
I for one, don't smoke it, but still think it should be legalized.

I want a world-wide ban on Cigarettes and alcohol too. Remove the poison, people!

What do you mean?
Are you asking me if they do have negatives effects on people?
Or that they are drugs that make people violent and such?
I want a world-wide ban on Cigarettes and alcohol too. Remove the poison, people!
It'd never work.
Besides, I don't think we should ban it all. We can enjoy everything in moderation.

I don't understand the justification that "cigarettes are legal and so is alcohol, so let's do marijuana too." Because that's just another way of saying, "it's already bad, so why not make it worse?" Seems kind of foolish to me, but eh. I'm also deep in the strongly anti-MJ camp.
And hemp was legal in the US until people got the idea in their head that they should smoke it, which is when it was slowly made illegal. In Connecticut along the Merritt parkway (route 15) and the Hutchinson Parkway (aka the Hutch), hemp was used as a basic plant to line the median because hemp is a durable plant. It was eventually removed because of the number of people who were killed trying to run across a major highway to get to the plant, and were nailed by traffic.
Largely my problem with weed isn't the plant itself; largely my problem with weed are the people who encourage it and want legalization. Although one should question the reasons for weed being illegal, I think they should also question the defense of legalization.
So largely, I don't trust people. This exacerbates the problem, because people obviously can't be sufficiently careful with alcohol, other drugs and cigarettes, so why would they be any different with weed?
So you're for banning alcohol and cigarettes right? Because honestly, those things are farther down the danger scale than weed.

Well, they are bad for society, the way they are used to day.
Not to say Marijuana wouldn't be.
But I think all 3 can be legal, so long as people know how to enjoy them without screwing up lives.
And make sure it's out of the hands of minors.
(Except beer :P)

Has this worked for cigarettes and alcohol?
No. But plenty of stuff is bad for society and is still around. Part of being human is having all these temptations.

What, keeping it out of minors? Absolutely not.
Legalization? Now, that's harder to say. Lots of people drink beer, not all have kidney problems. Lots of people smoke cigars, not all have lung cancer. Cigar is worse for your organism than alcohol, but it doesn't make people go crazy. Alcohol is the contrary. I think we should legalize, with heavy (I forgot the God-damn word. It's like, government officials making sure it's used properly.).

Agreed.
So, I'm curious why anyone would want to make the situation worse by adding yet another option for personal chemical alteration and/or increase the chance at temptation. I'm not saying get rid of the other two, because you can't really do that either without making a mess.
People will and are smoking pot even with it being ilegal. Making it legal will not only shut down traffic, and all the misery it brings, but bring money to the government.

Ah, but now you're assuming the government will take the money for corruption (not saying it won't), and that's a different problem.
It wouldn't increase traffic. Well it might increase
legal
traffic, but not the ilegal one that causes all the misery I talked about.
And you underestimate the amount of money that comes from drug selling.

As long as the money isn't going to drug cartels, we'd be better off. A lot of criminal organizations are funded by revenue generated from drug trafficking, so I think if we redirected the money to the federal government then I think it would balance out the consequences legalizing marijuana would have.
