Ok, so among other things that have mostly been mentioned in this thread before, I didn't discover my noob thing until about lvl 50.
WoW is my first MMO ever, please bare that in mind: I put together that when someone said "PST" it meant to whisper them. What I didn't know was that PST meant Please Send Tell....I thought it meant "psssstt", like what you'd say to get someone's attention before you "whispered" them.
My husband still gives me grief about that one to this day!
That's totally fine. Too many people don't know what that means. I see things like this all the time:
": WTB please pst me please"

I still dont understand why "PST" is used.
It has nothing to do with WoW chats. I mean c'mon? "Please send tell?" .. what TELL? ther eis no /t in wow unless im being a noob again and haven't figured out that maybe there is one...
I would understand something like
WTS /w* <~~ this was used a lot in D2 when I played
as in /w = whisper * means me , if your helping someone sell you put name instead of the star *
Anyways dont feel bad as it took me awhile to get the PST lingo too ...

When I first started playing World of Warcraft, around the time of the US beta, I did a lot of stupid mistakes. Worst part was, I didn't learn either and re-did them at the release of EU retail >_<
When I started out playing, I:
rolled mining and blacksmithing on my warlock, because I could craft swords and it looked really really cool wielding a sword.
ditched mining and blacksmithing for skinning and tailoring because I could make bags. From that day on, ALL my characters would have skinning and tailoring because I then could make my own bags.
was always calling the Razor Hill outriders HAXORS because they could mount at 30 and I couldn't before I was lvl 40.
decided that Ashenvale was the place to go at lvl 8. Went up the river just outside of Orgrimmar and nearly had a heart attack when a level ?? spider owned me.
avoided instances at all costs, they were too big and scary and I liked being on my own. First instance I entered was Razorfen Downs.
didn't know eating and drinking at the same time was possible until I was way into level 60 endgame. I was a noob for a long time.
bought all staffs I could find, even with strength. Always imagined staff was the best.
didn't spend talent points on anything useful. Also, I saved all mine until I was lvl 30 because I was afraid to use them. Yep, I was a long term Diablo II addict at that time.
rolled on and won the Robes of Insight at level 60. Since it was purple, it was automatically the best robe I could get. It clearly wasn't.
leveled enchanting really early, and never had money for anything. And I gave myself +strength enchants and +agility enchants, because I thought agility made me run faster and strength would strengthen my spells.
God I miss those days, exploring the huge world that was Azeroth back then.

Still a newb moment:
Yesterday, doing a few of the basic Outlands quests ("Zeth'gor must burn," etc) I was charging around on my shiny new Epic Paladin Mount, and ran through that area with a bunch of Hellboars and Buzzards. Still moving forward, I scroll the camera around to see if they're still following me, then pause to marvel at how cool I look on my glowing epic horse, with all these boars trying in vain to keep up...(You can probably see where this is going) Then I ran straight into the Fel Reaver.
Outlands is newbing me all over again.

LOL Those damn fel reavers are everywhere when you're level 60, but when you need one at 70 they friggin hide. ><

I'll still be making newb errors at 70, so I'm sure they'll still sneak up on me.

On my old hunter:
...When I first started, went to "recommend a server", and stuck with it, even though it was an Oceanic server, and I play on a PST time.
...soloed to lvl 56 with a bear.
...only instances I ever did were SM and ZF (even at 56). Might have done ST once.
...bought all my gear from AH, because I hated instancing. Took me many days of selling stacks of cloth to VENDORS to finally pay an overpriced amount for windrunner leggaurds... for my hunter.
...didn't lvl first aid. At all. Even at 56.
...bought gear from the AH, not according to stats, but how he'd look. Everything matches, and he DOES look cool, though.
That's why i don't play him anymore.

On my first toon (a rogue), I was such a noob that ...
... I didn't find out about talent points until about level 35.
... when I duelled an equal-level rogue around level 48, and got cheapshot and kidney shot, I cried OMG HAX and wondered what the hell had happened to me - I hadn't trained either of them because the tooltip explanation didn't seem like they'd be useful abilities.
... I didn't know about poisons until level 52, and didn't get the quest done until I was close to 60. Also, I didn't realize I could have someone decurse the debuff from the poison quest locker, or do a quest to get rid of it until 1 1/2 days /played later. Yeah, I ran around without stealth that whole time.
... I accidentally wandered from Hinterlands into WPL and ended up having to corpse run my way back out of that zone ... and ended up near UC, which was obviously no big improvement with all the horde around there.
... I kept using Krol Blade at lvl60 over obvious upgrades simply because it was epic.
... I put Icy on my Krol blade so I wouldn't have to use crippling poison.
... after I finally found out about talents, specced something to this effect:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fGcsR0xsZGZxMech0o
... I was using daggers, but never used backstab or ambush. As a matter of fact, I didn't even have them on my bars. I should note, the dagger I was using in my mainhand before getting a krol blade was a Julie's Dagger. Sinister Strike spam with a 1.3speed dagger ... awesome.
... I didn't get any Flash powder until about 10 levels after first getting Vanish.
... I didn't get any Blinding powder until having most of my Shadowcraft.
... I refused to take off my Barman Shanker in the MC days when I was asked to, because the Dot was pushing off important debuffs. IT MADE ME DO MORE DPS!
... I still raided with that horrible spec until about Garr or so.
(keep in mind, this was way back when T2 still dropped in MC and there was no Dire Maul, noone had any idea how to spec, and people would just zerg through instances. You died on a boss? No biggie, OOC rezzers ftw.)
oh:
... I eventually realized my spec was horrible, and regretted it for weeks until I figured out that you could actually respec. I was convinced you were forever bound to whatever spec you picked.
