When i first started I used to sell all my items by dropping them into the empty slots under the buyback tab...worked good for a few levels until I started getting more stuff then they had for slots so I couldn't sell everything in one sitting, finally asked a friend what was up and explained to me the magic of "right click".
Win. I did that all the way to lvl 40. I remember filling my bank slots with the stuff that was worth the most according to the vendors, and then creating an alt to mail myself the rest.
...Somehow I still had enough to buy my mount.

My friend who's a warrior didn't know about class quests (Defensive, Berserker stances) until I told him around 45. It was fun when he was told to tank and used a 2h weapon.

Well, I have yet to see anything in the same LEAGUE as my noobish nature when I began to play. x3
First off, this is the first online RPG I've ever played, so when I started I hadn't the slightest clue how controls worked, and I was too lazy to read the manual to find out. I thought, "Eh, I'll pick it up pretty quick I think." ...oh my lord was I wrong about that. I spent the first couple HOURS of my WoW experience walking around Shadowglen, running up to random creatures hoping I'd start attacking something. As you can imagine, that didn't work too well. ;)
I tried randomly spamming every button on the keyboard to see if I could find a button that did anything useful, but to no avail. ^^'' I tried clicking on things with the left mouse button and running up to them, but that didn't work either, so I tried right clicking and being a hunter at the time, I SHOT ARROWS AT THEM!!! ZOMG! Brilliant aren't I? =3
So, after about half an hour, I picked up on how to attack things. But eventually, I ran out of bag space! Oh noes! I had a bunch of stuff in my bag that I could have sold, but instead I just destroyed it, not realizing I could even sell them.
Anyway, I could go on for quite a while about all the stupid things I did, but the main point issss.....it took me the entire free month to get out of Shadowglen. Something that now takes about 2 hours. So yeah. Impressive, eh?

i started playing the day wow was doing it's first stress test, my first character was a female tauren hunter named Jara. back then, when a female tauren took out her gun to shoot, the gun pointed straight up! it was a funny glitch, but i just kind of lived with it. i remember it being a huge deal seeing other races running around, they looked so small and different to me.
tauren couldn't ride mounts, they had a skill called plains running. also, druids' wrath looked exactly the same as the shaman's lightning bolt, and mages had invisibility
everything was such a big deal to me, i thought it was so cool when you looted something or opened your bags, it made those amazing sounds and stuff. hunters didn't even have talents at that time hahah, i didn't really care because i thought they were pretty much useless
and mages had invisibility
Still do.
in beta, invisibility had a cast time, was obtained at a much lower level, and lasted for quite awhile. they removed it before WoW was officially launched. invisibility was only granted back when the burning crusade came out, and even then it hardly matches up to what it used to be. i'm guessing you only started playing after burning crusade came out, judging by your join date and the fact you believe mages have had invisibility this whole time?

LOL, awesome post btw.
I was just a noob cake, its not even funny.
-My first toon was a Shammy, who I leveled up to 20. Someone comes along and asks me why I'm not using my totems.... TOTEMS? WHAT TOTEMS?
-Didn't understand the need/greed rolls.
-When I got attacked, I'd start running around trying to get away.
-Spread out my talents over all 3 trees.
lol, many others, but you guys have posted most of them.

My first toon was a NE Hunter and my only goal back then was to gain a kitty mount. They looked so awesome to me then. That, and hearing of distant cities like Ironforge and Stormwind and going on what felt like an epic quest at the time to find them.
Made an undead mage originally to see the other cities, lol.
Remember dying on purpose way back when to try and explore without fear of death, Yeah I know, the goofiness shows.

Please, more. Please do go on. This is quite enjoyable to read.

- Thought you had to repeatedly press attack when fighting mobs...oops.
- Bought a weapon off a vendor when about lvl10 only to get a better one as a quest reward 2 mins later.
- Not sure whether I should admit this but...still haven't done any instance higher than Deadmines cos they scare me! (My main is lvl 62 now).
- Only just discovered the tram between Ironforge and Stormwind! Oops.
