When I first started playing the game, I didn't know much English, and when I found the word Threat in my talents, I looked it up. My dictionary said it meant damage...
50 levels later I learned the truth, and stopped avoiding anything that reduced threat.

I used
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=1380
until level 14 on my warrior because i liked the sleeveless-ness
I thought mages, warlocks, and priests were all the same
I wondered why anyone would play a warrior because they were so plain (i didn't make one untill 5-6 months after i started)
I didn't pick up fishing or cooking on my paladin because i thought catching and eating poor creatures was paladin-like
I also didn't use
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=5200
because it didn't look "holy" enough on the same paladin
I used thottbot

I used to think Need was not 'I need this' but something like, 'I don't need this'.
One time my brother was present at a raid of... it was either Stormwind or somewhere in STV by the Horde on his level ~30 Paladin. He told me all about this 'Orc warrior who just had a skull for a level' and 'when I attacked him he turned around laughed at me and cut me down in one swing.'
I think I leveled my Warrior up entirely on the notion that prot was
somehow
better to use because of it's survivability(?). Mind you, this was long before BC even came out. Back when revenge was like 50 damage on a crit.
I bought white vendor gear thinking it was the best you could get. Of course, the auction house was foreign to me.
I'm sure there is plenty else, I just can't seem to recall right this minute.

1. I thought being a gnome would be easy to level
2. I thought the game would be hard
3. I jumped off a cliff thinking i wouldnt die or lose alot of health
4. playing my first horde, i tried running to Silvermoon city without knowing about the port (500 deaths and finding the wrong port)
5. Yelling in chats because i had no idea that /1 /2 existed
6. Role -played in PvP realms.....

-At level 2 in Valley of trials, thought that since we where 3 people (lvl2,2 and 4) we could beat a flagged level 60 alliance (skull level) "Yes he is higher level but its 3 vs 1 damnit! Just heal us priest!" Did not go well.
-Stacking strength on my hunter (i did that to like level 50 or something), and actually telling others to do the same "agility gives ranged and melee attack power so it is most important, after agility you should stack strength cause it gives melee attack power!"
