Okay. Hit 60 recently and this question has been blazing in my mind. . .

I know the norm is to have a slow main hand and a fast off hand. . .

fast off hand makes sense, its pretty obvious, you want the mutlitple attacks for combat potency to proc (i'm combat so this is the easy part) and for poisons to hit etc. etc.

now, what i want to know is why the SLOW main hand. there was recently a post about the felsteel longblade not being good due to the fact that its too fast to be a main hand and too slow for offhand, again, offhand i get, but whats the point of the SLOW part.

I understand that what you want is to have the highest possible median damage on your main hand. and that those numbers generally come from slower weapons, but if the highest median damage you can get from a sword is a 2.2 over a 2.6, you should go for the 2.2 right?

the actual slowness of the main hand doesn't affect damage does it? its just the tendency that the slower swords come with higher damage.

its technically not slow main hand fast off hand. its high damage main hand, fast off hand. .. right? is there some component of rogue abilities that i'm missing?

it seems horribly obvious to me but everyone flips out about the speed over the damage that i just feel like i'm missing something.

and before the attacks of how much i suck come along, i just want to throw out my account and the fact that this is my first char to get close to end game (which is hilarious due to the fact that i've been playing since the game came out, off and on)

Have a look at the links for the arena season two swords.

The damage per second (d.p.s.) of the weapons is identical, but the Slicer (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32052) hits for more but less often and the Quickblade (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32027) hits for less but more often.

The reason for wanting a slow main-hand is not the fact that it is slow, but the fact that slow weapons have a higher average damage than a slower one. All of your skills are instant, which means when you use them they happen right then, ignoring the weapon's speed. Which of those swords do you want your Sinister Strike to use since it does weapon damage +X?
