I've been told that mods can edit polls, so I put a request in to add an option for Mormons and Buddhists. Hopefully those can get added, so check back if those concern you.

I may be missing some obvious button or something, but I see no way to edit the poll. Maybe it's admins only . . .

Pastafarians are intrinsically atheist or agnostic, no? Otherwise, 'Other' is always an option.
True believing Pastafarians (not sure if they even exist!) would be Non-Affiliated Theism though.

Mods should be able to edit polls now. New request submitted.

The edit button is now showing up, but it still seems to be broken. When clicking save after editing, the page breaks and the edit does not get saved.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Kangi##DELIM##In other words, we are experiencing technical difficulties. Please hold, your call is being transferred.

I don't know if it's been said and I'm not reading through 9 pages, but Google something like "What is my religion?" and take a religion quiz if you really want to just call yourself a generic Christian. You'll find out that you're not truly a generic Christian. I thought I was just an atheist until I took one of those tests and found out that I'm actually a Secular Humanist. Go figure!

I don't think you should call yourself any religion that you have to take an internet quiz for :P

I know it sounds strange but when I put my beliefs into the quiz and it spit out the name of a religion, I went to my school's library and researched it a bit. I went from calling myself a plain old atheist to a Secular Humanist within a few hours because my beliefs matched perfectly.
The point is that you can call yourself whatever you want, but until you put your beliefs into perspective and compare them with the world's religious systems, you don't really know exactly what you are.
Try it. You might be surprised.

Uh....
Yeah, I doubt that.

Humanism isn't a religion. It incorporates a religious stance (generally either atheism, agnosticism, or deism), but humanism itself is a philosophical approach, just like realism or nominalism are philosophical approaches.

Technicalities.
How is accurately defining a philosophical system a technicality?

Um, Secular Humanism is said to "reject religion." I'm fairly sure that means it ISN'T a religion, and thus is in a completely different ballpark. You don't just find a religion that fits your view points and go to it (well, you can, but still). You find one that you believe in.
Very large difference.

You're right; you don't. You find out what your belief system is called and then, in my case, find out there's a slew of people who believe as I do and they've written a lot of interesting stuff.
Technicalities.

Fine. How is this? My philosophical approach to life is known as Secular Humanism. Sorry if substituting a shorter world for a longer phrase was incorrect. Perhaps I shouldn't type lazily and instead be sure I'm typing exactly what I mean.

Way to take a quote completely out of context.

Because this is a thread about religion, not philosophy.

Well excuse me for trying to add to the discussion. Clearly a discussion about religion cannot include philosophical approaches.
