the 'blood elf' chick refered to is called 'Zephyr' and unless your 'Revered' with the Keepers of Time she wont be sending you anywhere.

you didnt say whether you were Horde or Alliance so i'll try and make it as generic as possible.

Horde:
-- Desolation Hold / Thunder Bluff

Alliance:
-- Fort Triumph / Theramore

walk south from southern barrens to access Thousand Needles and cross the water then use the path that leads to Gadgetzan which is in Tanaris.

You can make it by water from Theramore. Straight south.

Many have figured it out by now but just in case...Have water walking buff before you go!
For Horde, from Orgrimmar, fly to Thunder Bluff. Exit Thunder Bluff to the south east (if you have the quest for Gadgetzan just go the same direction the arrow is pointing). As you travel, you will come across Desolation Hold. Pick up the flight path then keep heading southeast. You will cross areas with what seems to be no path until you get to the village cliff that overlooks the water. The cliff is high above the water but you can jump down with no damage. You'll head somewhat west at this point also. Use the water walking buff and keep walking until you enter Thousand Needles. The path to Gadgetzan is at 75,96 and is lit with torches. Gadgetzan/Tanaris is right over the bend.
