You don't need spell hit for the lower heroics. One more significant piece of gear and I'd say you're set. The last of the frozen shadoweave, or maybe a gladiator's spellblade if you're doing any pvp.
Try to get into heroic Slave Pens runs as often as you can when you're first starting - it's one of the easier ones, and Quagimarran's Eye and the epic gem he drops are both outstanding for you. Plus you'll be building rep with the Cenarion Expedition for the exalted caster ring. Mechanar is another good choice for the Sha'tar rep and Scryer turn-ins, and is also fairly simple.

Not really. SL/SL is a poor build for anything except arena.
