Honestly, I just love being a rogue. That's really why I play. I love being able to hide. I love being able to choose my fights. I love sneaking up behind people. It just fits my personality perfectly. I can sit there in a battleground and watch people and laugh.
As for what you can do in pvp/pve. PVE Rogues are top damage. End story. That's there job, and they do it perfectly (granted the player knows what they're doing). Sapping is a blessing for rogues whether it's soloing, or in an instance/group. Vanishing in a sticky situation and surviving? No problems here. You save wipes for the most part (Or I do, being an engineer as well. Goblin Jumper Cables XL ftw.).
PVP - Watch World of Roguecraft. (all of them, there are 3)

That's really all I can say about it honestly, I don't pvp too much, but lately I have been, and I'm in full PVE gear, and Combat Daggers and I still end up in the top 3 of AV every time.
As for rerolling, I wouldn't reroll. I originally played a Warrior when I first started playing, got him to 48 and realized that everyone wanted me to tank and not dps, and I didn't like it, so I quit. I have a strong dps/paper tank history playing everquest as a ranger for like, 6 years.
Anyway, hope this helps.
