I always liked atmospheric horror best, maybe cause I'm a Lovecraft fan. I find it far more unnerving than a Dead Space style game full of nothing but "jump scares" over and over, because it's easy to become desensitized/see them coming after a while.

I really don't understand the thing people have with being scared of.. nothing. Video games and movies don't generally scare me though, since it's not real. Ravenholm scared me cause I had been told it was the worst thing in the history of mankind, it was not and now I enjoy going there way too often.
Ravenholm just had one thing that absolutely terrified me: in that part where you're waiting on the roof while all the fast zombies are swarming in to attack you, I noticed there was an empty room behind me with a closable door, so I figured I could hide in there. It worked for like half a second, until a skylight I hadn't noticed was there shattered and three fast zombies dropped from the ceiling, and more streamed in by the second.
I still don't know how I got out without dying horribly, I'm pretty sure I had 5 health left by the time the elevator got there.
And movies never, ever scare me, I always feel to detached.
Some
very well-made games scare me because I feel immersed in them, so it's almost like the stuff's actually happening to me for a second. Weird, I know, but it happens.

Hey, you're a noobface! D= And Ravenholm is the best part of Half-Life 2 exactly because you have to try killing everything with the gravity gun, throwing sawblades through zombies is the most satisfying thing ever.

I got through all of ravenholm up to the part where crazy guy gets you the lift. Shooting the zombies means losing the sawblade unless you're not retarded like I am. So at that part I was just like ^&*! it, and used the shotgun. Worst part of Half Life 2 is sandtraps, the part where you have to play the floor is lava. That made me yell insults for hours.
That's the only part of Half-Life 2 I don't like. Everything else is great, but $%^& everything about that part.

I suggest you do. Incredible atmosphere in that.

To me, the whole scare in Amnesia is the fact that the game lets you use your imagination a lot. Game graphics can never frighten you more than your own scary imagination. :)
You can't fight back either. You just have to hide and hope the monsters leave soon.
The beginning is a bit slow, but overall I had quite a few OH ^&*! moments while playing.
