uses a cat, and I personally prefer bite over claw. Furious Howl is a sweet buff. In fact, I trained a wolf just so that I could get bite, and I seriously considered making a wolf my permanent pet. I eventually decided to keep the cat because cats get a +10% dmg buff, and they get prowl, which when added to shadowmeld makes me a potent defense in WSG/AB.
Cats and ravagers are the highest dps pets in the game...they are each one of the few pet families that get the +10% dmg buff. However, ravagers have +5% armor while cats have +0%, but cats are only -2% health while ravagers are -7%.
It's really up to you, wolves are competent pets. Here's the secret to hunters that one of my friends let me in on...the most powerful hunters pick ONE pet and keep it until 70. I'm using the same cat I picked up at lvl 10...he has everything he needs plus 45 extra training points to spare. He can nearly kill clothies his own level while I sit back and /laugh, conc/scatter shot when they try to run.
Whats most important is that you pick a pet that you like...remember that it's a game, the whole idea is to have fun.

Yes, cats and ravagers do have the highest DPS for pets but if you like the furious howl, then by all means use it. Don’t let the fact that EVERYONE uses frickin cats as pets stop you from using a wolf.
