WOW! People need to quit QQ'ing about a damn ad. This is THEIR site, many of you act like its some god-given right to have a site like this.This site is a privilege...its a FREE site...its not like we are paying for a service. They can do whatever they chose, and if it helps keep this site alive, so be it. Its not like many of YOU have contributed time and effort to make this site.
You know it does cost to keep this site up, ya know.

Actually this campaign is clearly showing that Wowhead got something ($) to publish it. It's not like they woke up in the morning and said "hey, let's do some propaganda for another game, come on!". We are not giving our feedback on advertising in general, something that even my cat knows it's important. What we critic here is the choice they did and its quality.

Being free does not mean you are allowed to do whatever you want "because its yours". You have people watching you, TONS of people who know you and like the way you act. If one day you suddenly do something that almost everyone dislikes, it's important to consider why and where a mistake was done. It's called responsibility, something that wowhead *always* considered.

They could do twice the amount of money with porn and gold-selling banners. It's their website after all. But they do not do that kind of advertising, even if they "could".

I would like to thank the wonderful person who decided to put that front page ad up. It has shown me that I have became stale, only coming here in regards to my World of Warcraft inquiries.

I now have a reason to broaden my database site list and see what others can offer, so because of this I thank you greatly, have a great day!

I enjoy wowhead and all its epic dataz, and i understand that other MMOs exist, but 99% of the people who use WoWHead.com are PVE players, not PVP players, wich is what WAR seems to be geared for.. why would they not advertise on a PVP oriented site instead of WoWHead? Go Go PVE geared MMO Adds! Away Woosh!

Really...go to another DB then, this will still be one of the best wow DBs, and losing a few ppl over an ad which probably help pay to keep the site maintained is fine by me.

So quit your whining about an ad as if its gonna end your life.

I saw absolutely no issue with it, I was surprised but listen to this: I'm a fan of WAR and WoW.
*gasp*
Surely that isn't possible, is it? You're not allowed to enjoy more than one game at once! You need to like one game and flame/shun every other! Horrors!

Plus, think about it. Those of you convinced that they're "supporting THE ENEMY" (DUH-DUH-DUUUUUUM!) would you rather we pay to use Wowhead and not get these ads? Some people are so close-minded. Good Gawd.

I remember the dinosaur! But, sadly that computer advertisement and a lot of the zam recommendations are things the average person cannot shell out. I cannot shell out a couple of thousand dollars magically for an item that will go omg better item next week.

But, an mmo advertising across the zam network is kind of smart thinking for Warhammer Online. I may not try it as it does not attract me, but come on, I know several players who play more then one mmorpg. I play World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online myself. Many people play Age of Conan and World of Warcraft. Several people still play Final Fantasy VII (I think) and World of Warcraft and even Everquest.

Many mmorpgs know they cannot kill Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft but, are most likely hoping they can get some players whom do have past experience in mmorpgs. Perhaps, some people here will be attracted to Warhammer Online and click that add bringing them a new customer, and keeping Wowhead around a bit longer. I may hate half of the sites on the ZAM network, but, I really like two (Wowhead and WoWInterface). It keeps them alive, then by all means.

My only beef with the ad is that it's bloody hideous, ruins the clean look of the front page, but if it pays the bills...

If Warhammer wants to support my favorite WoW db site, who am I to complain? I won't go back to that buggy pile of 'meh' that's their game, and I get to chuckle evilly at the level of desperation it would require to go with such an in-your-face 'please come play our substandard game' advertisement.

I dont mind some ads, but this one was incredibly annoying. My first reaction was Wth, did I type in the wrong url? One of my main reasons for using Wowhead is the clean look. That big in-your-face-ad is anything but "clean".

That was pretty stupid to have a massive WAR add on the front page of the premier WoW database. Like it would be one thing if it was a normal sized one off to the side... but this takes up the whole page... and my adblock doesn't even block it.

Seriously, who's the genius who came up with that? -.-

you guys who are mad at the ad or mad at wowhead.com for having that ad up have 0 right to be upset. sure, you use the db but you don't own it. if they wanted to change the theme to "hello kitty goes to northrend" they could, and they could put ads up for hello kitty adventure island and you couldn't do a damn thing about it. The milk has been spilt......stop crying and move on because its not going to change.

So if Blizzard changed the login-screen into commercials, you wouldn't be upset? Sure, you "never" see it except when you login, but... It's kinda the first thing you see. "While playing WoW, why not order a pizza? And some Coca Cola!" or "Feeling epic? Not unless you got Adidas Epic Boots!".

to Carimm and the other sudden righteous crusaders defending the motivations behind that ad:

1. indeed, wowhead is THEIR site, but it reached this popularity level through the users that posted tips, tricks, screens, content ! Look @ wardb now - although it has a nice interface it is empty, as wowhead was in the beginning...

2. "Shut the hell up "

and moments later:

"The nerve of people who don't pay for a service, to complain about something." etc... - you might want to reconsider what you wrote, you fall damn well in the same category Mr. Crusader.

3. "Everyone else QQ more please, I'm low on tears to clean my windows." - if this is an attempt to sarcasm or irony (even cheap)....well... you FAIL
