I thought this ad was hideous when I saw it on wowwiki, and it looks even worse when its on the front page of this site. On the bright side, I've now been encouraged to block the "skins" directory on this site, so I'll never have to see another one of these monstrosities again.

I believe the subject at hand is regarding the front page ad. And with you two bickering on and on like children, all you're accomplishing is digressing the thread.
Just drop the subject already. Or at least take it elsewhere. This thread in particular does not need any more flames than it already has received.

Posting stuff about WAR on a WoW database website is not only in bad taste, but an incredibly good way to get a ton of people to move over to other DB sites. Whoever made the decision to use that 'skin' needs to be booted from the WoWhead team...
It's also bad when you're trying to help new players in the game, directing them to this site. They show up and say "I'm not getting the right site." So, it's confusing. Please use ANY non-MMORPG ad on the front page. Sprint would probably pay extra for a nice front page for a week and would be less confusing as no one would say "I got to the Sprint webpage, what was that site again, I think I got it wrong."

Who are you to explain to these random people, literally a drip in the bucket, why you choose to advertise however it is you do?
I'll tell you one thing, if this was my site my explanation would be something like "well here, let me solve your problems.

People that choose to be offended by a perfectly harmless ad are pure idiots, probably beyond repair. Now, we may not be able to stop them from voting or have the legal right to lock them up and throw away the key, but at least we don't have to do what they say.

I think it's a very clever idea, if people quit using wowhead because of this (LOL) then good for US, weeding out the QQers

When I originaly loged on I thought that wowhead became a war database so was about 1 sec from going to thottbot. then clicked on the forums and saw all was not lost. so now I just go to the forums instead of the hideous mainscrean. IS THAT SUPPOSE TO BE AN ORC?

So frontpage ad is gone now. Yay! I was a little confused by it when I loaded the page the other day, but everything else was the same, so meh. No biggie, advertisement is advertisement... I honestly don't see what there is to be offended by. Though I guess these days people are offended by anything.
If nothing else, be mad at WAR for having such an ugly-as-sin ad.
