People come here for information on WoW. It is a -WoW- fansite. If they wanted to see full page garbage about Warhammer, they'd go to a Warhammer site or a general gaming site.
You wow idiot fanboys are all the same. Stupid as bricks. When you go to the wow forums you see ads about razor's and pizza. Did you go there to find out about what deal you could get on pizza or how many razor's Gillette has got on their blades now? No. It's called advertising, you dolt. And as a matter of fact...a warhammer advert on the front of wowheads site is *MUCH MORE* on-topic than most ads you see on the wow forums, so shut your pie hole.
Secondly, wow advertised the hell out of WOTLK on the warhammer alliance forums, noone there wanted to see any crap about carebear garbage-pvp wow but they spammed it on there anyway. The only difference is the warhammer community didn't cry like pathetic little girls about it.
Grow up and get your head out of your ass. This is a mmorpg-related site with mmorpg-related advertising. Go cry a river.

I was refering to the people at the company who chose to advertise here.
I didn't know they did that, and yes I would ask them the exact same question and make the exact same points. I apologise if I gave the impression that I was trying to do any more than ponder. I have NOTHING against warhammer, EA, Mythic, or anyone who plays any of their products. I just wanted to put in my two copper worth of logic.
I see. Well I think its actually a ploy to get ex-players thinking about checking it out. I don't think it will have much of an effect on getting new players, but players coming here that are bored of running naxx for the 50th time might think about checking warhammer out to see what's changed in the last few months. Just like players who were bored of being tossed in the lava over and over in warhammer may have seen the wotlk ad and wanted to check out what's new with that expansion. So I can definitely understand it for trying to get old players back.

When I first time opened wowhead today I was so sure I pressed wrong button becouse I was seeing a page with huge Warhammer online text and characters. After that I noticed Wowhead logo and next thing I was thinking was "is it 1.4. already?" Well it certainly isn't.
Someone said its mmo-related site so there is mmo-related ads. Yes ofcourse but only mmo this page has information about is WoW. I wouldn't mind if there was a banner about Warhammer on side of the screen or something (thank god I can block the excisting banners and popups here has been appearing).
I like WoWhead over thottbot becouse this is dark themed, that white background of thottbot is just burning my eyes. Haven't really tried other WoW database sites. Now I got colorful piece of ^&*! on my face.
You must have got nice amount of $$$ for 2/3 front page covering ad about Warhammer online front page of popular WoW related site and it is probably covering easly the loss of users you are getting with that, since money rules in this world.
Thank god it is only on front page.

By doing this you are in a sense killing your traffic. For the Pizza Hut reverence this would be like putting a huge Domino's Banner at the front door to Pizza Hut, does that sound like good marketing to you? Does that sound like something pizza hut would allow?
By Pizza Hut advertising for Dominos, they would lose sales to Dominos, because people would only eat one pizza. WAR advertising on another MMO's site doesn't take away sales from that MMO. fyi,
you're allowed to play more than one MMO at the same time

And your also allowed to have as many pizzas as you want. However i completly agree with the majority of the people here, the advert is ugly and not needed. I wouldn't be as fanatical as to say im never coming here again but i don't think it is the smartest of ideas (Just look at the uproar)
How often do you see a rival advertising on another rivals page? Im sure it upsets people seeing one of their favourite WOW related sites with a WAR advert on. Im sure that you can say how you need the money but selling yourself like that is embarrasing.
However i would prefer adverts like that over this bloody partypoker one i get every 10 minutes (Once a day? yeah right) However the main problem is the scale of it.
Also a loose example would be advertising your football club next to your fierce rivals. Ever wonder why most of these fights start? Just bad taste...

Because its not EA we are disappointed in, its wowhead. Nobody cares what EA decides to do, if you like Warhammer you will be on Warhammer websites.
Besides, its not so much the content of the ads as the SIZE and OBNOXIOUSNESS. If there were warhammer banner ads up (which there might be, I dunno) I could care less... A banner is a banner and they provide income. Splashing it all over the splash page like that, cluttering up a normally clean design... That is a different story.
(Is it just me, or is anyone else uncomfortable using the word grouping "that is"? "Thats" just feels more natural IMO)

I simply think it would have been better to remove the grayish white background from the ad. The characters would have looked fine, the text would have been visible, and it would've caused a lot less of an uproar if it were just on the normal black background.
Only slightly, most people here are whining for the sake of whining. For gods sake as soon as you search it's gone, why the hell would you bother QQ'ing about that?
There are many other adds on every single page (unless you just block them like me) that are much more invasive, this uproar is based on people whining for the sake of whining, it doesn't matter what it's about.
