Honestly wowhead, you're only mistake was putting this up on a tuesday....
It's a known fact that when the servers are down there's a 150% increase in the chance of an angry mob forming on wow related sites. Which lets face it, has a pretty high chance of occuring anyways.
But anywho, I don't really mind the ad. In all honesty, I did click it and looked around the WAR site a bit. The main reason why I clicked it actually was I figured you guys get some compensation for the number of IPs that click it or whatever so I just wanted to help out......

Just so you guys know I'm still reading this thread. I feel like I've said pretty much all I had to say on the subject—we ran the ad to help us pay the bills. We have to run ads of SOME kind, and I honestly thought that ads for Warhammer Online were a
good
idea—we've been trying to get similar deals with WoW products and such. The only other ads we've ever run as front page skins are one for a fancy monitor (which got flamed, although not this badly) and one for WotLK, which no one even seemed to realize was an ad. I honestly figured that you guys would appreciate having ads that were directed at MMO gamers specifically, rather than the usual stuff we get.
I certainly wasn't trying to be disrespectful to Blizzard, of course. I figured if Blizzard employees were encouraging people to try other MMOs, there wasn't any harm in us doing it either. :(
In any case, it's a 24 hour thing. At midnight tonight it will be gone, so don't worry.

The Lich King thing was an ad? I was sure it was just some fancy stuff you put around because it was related to wotlk news and I was wondering why you removed it at some point lol.
And dont listen to the QQer Malgayne, the WAR advertise is a good idea. The angry people are most of then Blizzard fan-boy. You would put a Diablo or Starcraft advertise they would not complain.

Here's my stand:
If it were any other MMO, ave it be Secondlife, EvE, even Age of Conan for God' sake, I would not mind one bit. However, something as similar and as disgraceful to the fandom of WoW in its entirety as Warhammer is, is a disrespectful gesture to all WoWhead users and to Blizzard itself.
If you can at all avoid it, please to dot ever allow them to advertize on your site unless you publicly boast about how they paved your driveway gold with money for their ads.
This is almost as bad as Disney advertising in front of Universal Studios' ticket windows for God's sake!

They get this site for free. They should shut up. For once, I agree with moderators/you. You should retaliate against the masses in this case! Put up an ad for the Slap Chop, or something with Billy Mays.
