It would be nice to have small icons next to each thread signifiying unread, read, and posted. Icons similar to the sticky bell and locked lock.
Read could be a blue Wowhead rocket (ala
this
or blue logo)
Unread could be a red Wowhead rocket (ala
this
or main logo)
Posted could basically add flames behind the rockets
Essentially:
Red
; new
Blue
; old
Lit red
; posted in thread, new posts
Lit blue
; posted in thread, no new posts

The forums actually don't track this with cookies right now, but we have some more features planned. ;)
