Feral DPS @ end game??

ok i started a druid a bit ago and specd feral do to the lack of tanks in my guild/server.....i enjoy tanking but i also like DPS.. when im not tanking an instance or healing no one has been able to out dps.. i was just wondering if there are alot of strict "dps" ferals in end game instances and/or whats ur opinions on the subject...are we tank only? how is our dps @ 70 to rogues/locks? thx for input.

hmm..thx for input. but what im wondering is does a feral in cat stand a chance to out dps or equal dps in end game raids compared to mages/rogues/locks? does the spec support that dps or am i a doomed to tank bear? ATM no one has out dps me in an instance...does 70 and gear/specs change feral output of damage compared to other classes?

In general, druid DPS is inferior to other DPS classes, but this is mainly due to the number of other factors druids bring to the table, such as Rebirth, Innervate, picking up adds in bear, and tranquility (since you're normally in a melee group, and melee can take damage rather easily, barkskin/tranquility can save your healers a ton of time).

I dont completely disagree with the last 2 posters however i have beaten both mages, hunters and rogues i n dps charts some of whom had better gear than me ( For instance i beat a mage who was fully epicd and i am far from that). I believe that if you know what to look for in gear and know the best move cycles then u can compete with other dps classes. Having rebirth/tranquility/LotP/Bear form adds to your viability and makes up for your lack of CC imo.
However not many other classes seem to realise this...

There are no strict dps ferals in endgame. You don't roll one for dps. We can, however, push out respectable dps in the light of our ability to tank.
No offense to the above posters, but it never ceases to amaze me how many consider their anectodal evidence from Karazhan level relevant answers to questions about endgame.
As for lower levels, I'd imagine people are severely lacking tanks while dps would be plentiful.

I've raided SSC in dps gear, without ever having to tank an errant mob. My buffed AP was over 4500 and i was using Mangle/Shred/Shred/Shred/Rip rotation. I still ended up 8th on dps charts. We aren't built to be topping the dps charts. Not to say that druids are bad dps, but we're more useful in most situations as a tank or healer.
If you ended up 8th after a full SSC clear, then you're doing quite well considering the several places where AOE classes get a leg up.
