The shot from the pistol reflected helpessly from one of the numerous overlapping saronite plates that, somehow, did not hinder the orc in the slightest. Even though at least two of the three shotgun rounds came through the armor covering his back, in his taint-induced frenzy he leaped at Henry Markoth, threatening to crush the inquisitor with his weight, gravity playing on his side.
Turin slashed through the darkspawn, but it seemed that for each grell felled another two would come out, some clinging onto the worm to act as living shield.

Markoth used speed, twitching aside from the leap. He twisted a hand and formed shackling chains of Light around the orc, which he used to hold the orc in place as he stepped forward, plunging his sword at the orc's neck.

The orc held no regard for his safety, like any other darkspawn. The strike was lethal, but it missed the spinal cord. It failed to keep him from moving, and so he wheeled around, struggling to reach Markoth with his scythes as he bled profusely, the chains groaning under his weight.
Several grells leaped at Krothgar's machine gun, trying to weigh it down, pry it out of his hands, leave him unarmed. Only two made it through the hailstorm of bullets, but more kept coming.

Markoth took a step back, pulling out another pistol. He stepped forward, sweeping the orcs leg's out from under him. He placed the pistol to the orc's forehead and executed him with a single shot.

The initial element of surprise was lost for the darkspawn, and though their numbers kept growing steadily, their were being picked off faster as the battle went on. The worm was suffering more and more damage, flailing madly at anyone unfortunate enough to come too close.

Turin had been fighting at Krothgar's side, chopping off the claws the orc failed to notice. When the hair on the back of his neck stood on its end, he heaved Krothgar to the ground, "DUCK!"
Naia's wave came overhead, missing them by inches and leaving stench of singed hair in the air. It hit the worm - and everything above, including whatever darkspawn it had not yet deployed, turned into giblets fried deeply. A cauterized, ugly stump in place of its head, the worm collapsed.

"Krothgar!" Turin roared, then took a wary step back. He looked at Al'drien, "Two questions, Al'drien Moonshadow. One, is it common for your subordinate to behave like this? Two, have you ever seen one of these worms?"
