Fire Breath, like many skills that act in a spell-like fashion, also increases its damage based on the RAP of the hunter. This means that as you level up and get more RAP, or as your equipment gets better and you gain more RAP that way, your dragonhawk's Fire Breath will do more damage. Tests by myself and the hunter Tiiaa of Zirkel des Cenarius (EU) indicate that about 2.25% of the hunter's RAP gets added to the total damage of Fire Breath. In other words, for every 100 RAP you add, Fire Breath gains about 2 damage total.
The damage of Fire Breath also increases with the level of the dragonhawk. In fact, Fire Breath is the only skill that works this way! But it makes sense: only dragonhawks know Fire Breath and dragonhawks only occur at very low levels and very high levels, so there are only two ranks of Fire Breath available. But Fire Breath Rank 1 would quickly become useless for a mid-level hunter if its damage remained 6 Fire damage over 2 seconds. So as your 'hawk levels up, the base damage of Fire Breath will increase slightly each level. Unfortunately at this time we do not have a complete formula or chart for exactly how much damage Fire Breath gains with each pet level.

I have a dragonhawk stabled right now which I use for dailys and such but not for instances because I was told that they break CC because their attack is cone based . Is this still true ?
yes its cone in front of them and do dot its CC nightmare, but is nice pet vs rogue
