Has anyone looked at the math on whether or not this would be good for disc priests?

As I'm bored out of my mind considering whether or not fighting this druid for Whiptail, just to send to my friend to make into DMCs, I wonder about Volcano card... with the mastery bonus, I don't know of many classes that make use of that.

But then it occured to me, this could be awesome for Disc priests. Fair hit of mastery, and more importantly the proc chance I figure gives roughly 3% crit, as far as I can tell 1600 sp, if synapse springs are any guide than the mana pool increases by a sizeable (like 20k) amount for replenishment, and then a little extra damage as icing on the cake.

This is just from my delirious nubbish theorycrafter ramblings at 2 in the morning.

So there are the stats. Replenishment doesn't mean much anymore, however does. Each have 12 second durations/cooldowns therefore, unless you are the unluckiest person in the world, you will get a rapture return if you are using shields liberally/on CD on the tank. When this trinket procs you will get an extra 1440 mana returned via Rapture, every (ballpark figure) 60 seconds.

In addition, this trinket will increases mastery, which in turn increases how much of a pounding your shield can take by around 4%. Furthermore, the Intellect you gain will increase your spell power by 1600, plus an additional 15% from , making that 1840 addition spell power.

However, you need your main focus to be smiting and, in 4.1, casting Holy Fire in order to get the proc. This is pretty easy in most fights and, using focus macros or target of target macros you can achieve it in many, many fights.

I would say yes, this is a good trinket for discipline. Couple it with Darkmoon Card: Tsunami and you have a potent throughput/regen mix.

Cool, I'm not crazy. Not totally anyway.

It occurred to me because the Holy Priest in my friend's guild went Disc, and I was thinking of suggesting it to him.

But he has the Doll, so I'm curious now how it stacks up.

I would only take this if your main role was PW:S'ing the raid to get the full benefit from mastery, otherwise there are better options available imo.

With a 30% chance, you have a 16.807% chance that your 5th consecutive attack will not have procced it. That is, if I don't forget how to calculate the statistics for that :).
