You'd have to reactivate the account. But as long as both accounts are in your name then it is possible to transfer the character across.

you'd have to go through processes of proving you own both accounts and then, only then, would they
consider
merging your accounts.
Think like a business, would you rather someone pay twice to play two accounts or be kind and let them get them all for the price of one :P
It's less to do with that and more to do with stopping the sale of characters between accounts.

Can I transfer characters from one account to another?
Yes, you can transfer characters not just between realms but also between accounts. However, you may only request character transfers from one account where you are the owner to another account where you are the owner. Any attempt to transfer a character from an account where you are not the owner could be considered a violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use and could lead to Blizzard taking disciplinary action against your account, including, but not limited to warnings, temporary account suspension, or permanent account suspension, as determined by Blizzard

It's not about them not getting two lots of subs because I can't afford that anyway so they are, and will, only get one sub.
What I meant was you will probably have to activate the old account while the character is transfered (so 1 months subscription) then you can let it lapse again after.

Yeah that's fine I don't mind that. What I can't afford to do is run two subs all the time. However it looks like it's possible I just have to prove I own both accounts which I do so that's not an issue.

You should just be able to use the standard character transfer feature as your name should be the account creator name in both cases.

I'm kind of having the same problem now. I got hacked almost 2 years ago, finally got my account back but not before i leveled my mage all over again and i just now was able to get my old account back.... how do i go about merging the accounts? I tried doing it through battle.net but it keeps telling me my login is invalid?
I'm preety sure there's an option to do that on battle.net once u solve ur login invalid problem, if u have too much trouble with it, reset the password to the account u keep getting the invalid info on.

As long as both accounts are under the same name, Support should be able to help you with this.
