In my opinion, the only haiku worthy of being there is Striker's, which is actually the only haiku essence-wise. Haikus are not meant to be funny. Other than that, wanna wish him 祝好运.
P.S.: Could we post our haikus live, at least after the competition, so we can see the cut ones too?
P.P.S.: Is Flyers a one-syllable or two-syllable word? That could explain my case.
Wowhead's example haiku was funny, I prefer to use their rules.

Not sure I like the idea of displaying the authors' names.
Yeah, I've already expressed concern about that, both here and in the announcement. They should be hidden until someone says "Hey, that's mine!" or voting's closed.
Well, ya can't blame me for not wanting to read through 12 pages. =\

Irony is when you say something that is opposite of its literal meaning. Sarcasm is a form of verbal irony.
Not quite, and no. Irony is when the words are valid as written/spoken, but the actual meaning is other than what the reader/listener would expect from context. Pointed double-entendres, sly weasely contracts (see Futurama link above), that sort of thing.
Sarcasm is a bald-faced lie which the speaker intends the listener to
know
is a lie. The words are not valid in any sense.
That is just a fancy way of saying that your words arent meant literally. And there are many forms of verbal irony and sarcasm is one of them. Who said irony has to be subtle. here is how you can recognize irony.

A lot of people seem to be a fan of Striker's haiku... However, the phrase Arthas' isn't technically two syllables, is it? Wouldn't it be pronounced "Arthas's" (a 3-syllable word)? The only reason you drop the last "s" in writing is because it looks silly visually.
If that's true, it makes his 2nd line 8 syllables, rather than the required 7.
*shrug* That's why I didn't vote for it.

Tejon, I believe you are thinking of the word "facetious" in your first paragraph, not sarcasm. Sarcasm is, indeed, a form of irony.
